In the state of the union of emptiness and bliss, abide as much as possible, and dedicate the merit. Thus, one should strive until signs of obtaining the power of blessings appear. These are the common preliminaries, common to both Sutra and Tantra. Secondly, the uncommon preliminaries, which establish the view, are threefold: distinguishing samsara and nirvana, the preliminaries of the three doors, and settling into the natural state. First, distinguishing samsara and nirvana, there is the showing of the distinction, and how to distinguish it. First: As it is said in "The Vajra that Destroys": "If samsara and nirvana are not distinguished, then the body, speech, and mind of the three realms will not sever their connection, therefore, one should distinguish samsara and nirvana." As it is said, the nature of the body, speech, and mind of sentient beings is primordially pure, but temporarily obscured by sudden deluded appearances, therefore, from beginningless time until now, they have continuously wandered in the six realms, and although the physical gestures, verbal expressions, mental thoughts, and ways of experiencing suffering of each of the six realms have been countless, they have all become meaningless. But now, still clinging to and attached to unfinished karma, what is to be done? Therefore, now one should distinguish samsara and nirvana, so that the root of being born in samsara in the future is severed. How to distinguish? By using as the path what is similar to the activities and appearances of samsara, thereby realizing the faults of negative karma, and in the future, one will be liberated from clinging. As it is also said in the common teachings of Secret Mantra: "With conceptual thought, one should counteract conceptual thought; with existence, one should counteract existence. Just as water enters the ear, it is drawn out by other water. Likewise, one should purify and counteract the conceptual thoughts of things." etc., the meaning is the same. Secondly, there are outer and inner aspects. First, distinguishing in an external way: As it is said in "After Death": "In order to do the preliminary of the body, one should purify the various activities of the six realms, and also practice the activities of the Three Jewels." etc. Thus, go to a secluded place such as a cliff or empty valley where there is no human traffic, and offer a torma to the local deities, thinking: Now, for the benefit of sentient beings, I will distinguish samsara and nirvana, so that I will not fall back into samsara in the future. Having generated this intention, experiencing the heat and cold of hell

. Hungry ghosts experience hunger and thirst, animals are exploited, humans experience birth, aging, sickness, and death, Asuras experience fighting, and gods experience falling, etc. Consider that all the experiences of happiness and suffering of the six realms are experienced by your own mind, and make all kinds of gestures such as bending, running, walking, and staying with your body. Utter all kinds of sounds with your speech, and practice without interruption until you do not feel tired or weary, and then look at the self-nature of post-cognition and rest. Again, with your body, make the gestures of the peaceful and wrathful forms of the Sugata, and with your speech, recite the sounds of secret mantras, and with your mind, clearly visualize and hold those images as much as you can, and maintain the self-nature of post-cognition. By doing so, there will be no hot, cold, hunger, thirst, attachment, rejection, or acceptance in the body, and in the speech, meditative wisdom will arise from the words and meanings of the Guru's instructions, and in the mind, clear, empty, unobstructed, and blissful experiences will naturally arise. Practice until these arise. The purpose of these is to purify the sins of body, speech, and mind, pacify obstacles, reverse clinging, and achieve the Vajra of body, speech, and mind. In the root text, it is said that the Rushen (ru shan) of body, speech, and mind should be distinguished separately, and the preliminaries of the three doors should be performed alternately, but if the distinction of Rushen is made into three parts, it is thought that the essential points of practice will be more compact and concentrated, so the Lamas have been practicing what has just been said. Secondly, it shows how to distinguish Rushen internally, and how to distinguish it. First, in the "Klong gsal" (Vast Clarity), it says: "In order to exhaust the causes of inner delusion, the Rushen of Samsara and Nirvana should be distinguished internally." Therefore, by distinguishing Rushen in an external way, although the conditions for the appearance of external delusion can be exhausted, if the causes and seeds of inner delusion are not exhausted, then due to the intention of afflictions such as hatred, bad habits are planted in each seed, thereby awakening their power, resulting in the inability to cut off the cycle of the six realms. Therefore, in order to cut off these. Second, in the "After the Past" it says: "This body is born from the cause of ignorance, the seeds of the six realms reside in it. Awareness is the essence of the three bodies, the three seed syllables of the three bodies appear. Practice the syllables and distinguish Rushen." The way the seeds reside is, in the "Klong gsal" it says: "At the crown of the head
