From the earth, the door called the eye appears, showing the appearance of grasping at duality, especially distinguishing between good and bad, from the swirling like a snail's horn, the so-called A-fruit is divided into black and white, knowing and holding all forms, and fully showing the self-power of wisdom, from this actually arises, thus making the appearance of delusion and wisdom and the appearance of samsara and nirvana, like the root of a snail's horn being thin and the tip being thick, the A-fruit is half black and half white, so, its place causes the day to pass, the appearance of wisdom arises, and at night from the black part, the appearance of samsara arises. Thus, from that door of appearance, four lamps appear, as the "Ornament of Clear Realization" says: What is its origin? From the ultimate Dharma-nature arises, the four lamps are thus. Thus, the four lamps are: the far-reaching water lamp is the eye itself, the lamp of empty bindu is, relying on that, appearing like the colors of a peacock's tail. The lamp of the completely pure realm of reality is, from its radiance, appearing like the letter Na-ro. The lamp of self-born wisdom is, appearing in many ways in its power of wisdom. From the crown of the head arises the body of non-thought. The tantra says: The far-reaching one gathers form, generated and increased by wind, by the increase and decrease of light and movement, it gathers pure wisdom, the empty bindu performs all actions, holding the wind of past actions, the wind generates splendor and radiance, transforming and showing the appearance of wisdom, the lamp of self-born wisdom, all dharmas are equal in one taste, gathering and holding self-appearance, this cuts off the continuity of habitual patterns, gathering the essence of the realm of reality, and holding the bodies of awareness, the three essentials ripen into essence, abandoning the nature of samsara. Thus, because the lamp arises in the eye, because it gathers the essential points of the Buddha's intention, it holds all self-appearing objects. So it is said. The characteristics of the lamp are much discussed in the tantras, but the appearance of the direct perception of Dharma-nature can be determined right now, so it is called the four lamps. That shows in which door it appears. Now, that awareness appearing in the door, where is it clear? The "Vajra Space" says: It becomes clear in the three that are free from conditions. Thus, that self-light of wisdom, in the sky free from conditions, the senses.

Oh, free from conditions, it appears in three places free from conditions. Moreover, the tantra says: The characteristics of appearing as an object are: the sky is blue and clear without impurities, light and color are the essence of space, and the self-appearance of the five wisdoms is shown. In the pure lamp of space, the bindu, body, and illusory appearances are pure, self-nature and essence, appearing as non-dual and inseparable. This is the nature of the Dharma that exhausts time, like the unconditioned sky. Therefore, the object is the basis for the manifestation of emptiness in the empty sky. How does it appear? The Refutation Tantra says: Space is both external and internal, the external grasps the cloudless sky, and the internal lamp is the path. And, the Letterless Scripture says: The eye observes the realm of the sky, and the light arises subtle and sharp. The scripture says: What is the meaning of this? One should contemplate the pure sky. What is directly clear is: space and awareness are inseparable, emptiness and clarity are non-dual, object and mind are non-dual. The view free from extremes is: awareness vajra chain, and the lamp of completely pure space, the two appear directly to the eye faculty without separation. It is not analyzed by wisdom, but the three of object, gate, and awareness appear inseparably, therefore it is called direct appearance. The Refutation Tantra says: That is also the key to the direct appearance of the Dharma nature, just seeing it is knowing, just knowing it is realizing, and just realizing it is liberating. And, what is to be directly revealed is, in the Clear Expanse it says: Awareness wisdom vajra chain, originally abiding on the ground, but in the middle, without conditions, the conditions are removed. Therefore, although abiding on the ground, it could not be directly revealed, on that object free from conditions, what is revealed by conditions is, again, that same scripture says: In the Buddha Dakini realm, in the mirror of the Vajra Dakini, the door of the Jewel Dakini mandala is also opened, the Karma Dakini comes to the door, the Lotus Dakini reveals the Dharma nature. The awareness thus revealed is not created, the Refutation Tantra says: The nature of awareness is the vajra chain, past, future, and present, no one has created it. Therefore, uncreatedness itself is the nature of the vajra chain, because all discriminations are purified, it is the non-deceptive Buddha. For the fortunate one who has a stable direct appearance, the three realms
