The earth itself does not hold onto truth as its own nature. Because of realizing freedom from elaboration and purity, it is known that the nature of reality is without inherent existence. When one's own philosophical system is exhausted, the Dharma is exhausted. Now, being free from attachment to holding onto Dharma, one feels at ease. Secret self-awareness, when viewed nakedly with the eye of the completely pure nature of reality, the way of seeing is that one's own awareness directly sees the essence and awareness as inseparable. Thus, one realizes that one cannot attain Buddhahood through the words of conceptual thought, and therefore, one does not rely on the words of conceptual thought and feels at ease. This is the key to seeing the realm of activity of the nature of reality's power. If one were to give these names, it would be called the view of severing the stream of cities, that is, the view of severing the stream of the city of the womb and not regressing in the three realms. Thereafter, the best of diligent ones will attain Buddhahood in this very life without the appearance of defilements. The middling one, because they have the guru's instructions, even if they practice a little, they will become exhausted and not have the opportunity to practice. Such a person, in the bardo of the nature of reality, their own nature of reality will become a strength and they will attain Buddhahood. The lowest one receives the instructions of the cause, but because of laziness, they do not have the opportunity to practice. Such a person, relying on the blessing of the truth of the nature of reality, exhales their last breath in the pure land of the self-existing Nirmanakaya Buddha, and is born there miraculously, and will definitely attain Buddhahood there. Therefore, it is called severing the stream of cities. Its secret instruction is the view like Mount Meru. For example, if one goes to the top of Mount Meru, the king of mountains in the center, one can see the four continents at the same time. Likewise, when viewed from the top of Dzogchen, one realizes the intentions and self-view of the nine vehicles in order. Other vehicles do not see the intention of Dzogchen. From its unchanging aspect, it is also like Mount Meru. The understanding of this is the understanding of complete liberation from the three realms. Thus, when viewed by a Dzogchen yogi, there is not a single being who has not been liberated. When one realizes this, it is called the six realms liberated in their own place. At that time, afflictions are purified in their place. Like clouds dissipating in the sky, or like muddy water clearing, they clear in their own place. This arises from the key point that one was never confused in the beginning, one does not abide in confusion now, and it is impossible to be confused in the end. At that time, the person who has abandoned the Dharma is named as the Dharma that acts on everything.

It is so. Taking the fruit as the path means that the fruit of meaning does not revert to the cause, like the fruit of the juniper tree. Moreover, at this time, the king has taken the throne and does not change, just as a child of the royal family, after being crowned from the crown of the head, takes the throne and does not change, so too, awareness itself abides in its own place. Subjugating the subjects and not changing means that just as a king subdues the subjects and abides in the kingdom, the basis for the arising of the five consciousnesses is emptiness, so there is no name for samsara. Imprisoning the ministers and not changing means that if the king's ministers are imprisoned, then the king is also in danger, and the movement of mental thoughts is cut off, so awareness gains autonomy. If this fruit is named, it is called the fruit of self-nature purity. It does not arise from the effort of action, but the meaning of original purity arises in the continuum, so it is called a fruit. Its oral instruction is that by abiding nakedly in awareness, how does this fruit arise? It arises from awareness abiding on whatever appears, whatever arises. Its meaning is that the three realms are all pure, because one's own body, speech, and mind have no karma, habitual tendencies, or thoughts, so the three realms are all pure. At this time, the afflictions have become self-liberated, just as the venom of a snake is naturally liberated and cannot be used again. Likewise, the afflictions have no chance to arise, and are self-liberated in the nature of reality. At that time, that person is called one who has transcended the Dharma. Separated from the consciousness that clings to samsara and nirvana. These are to be practiced by sentient beings with objects of focus, for the sake of those who enjoy the play of meaning. Now, it is taught what should be practiced by sentient beings with self-appearing awareness, namely Trekchö and Tögal. Trekchö refers to this one, which is unrelated to appearances, and realization manifests instantaneously. The practice of Tögal is to first complete the four empowerments, and then, with either of the above two methods of practice, for the oral instruction, perform the preliminary and main practices, and the three practices of distinguishing samsara and nirvana. First, perform the practice of distinguishing samsara and nirvana of the body, reach its verbal measure, and perform the practice of distinguishing samsara and nirvana of speech, reach its signs.
