What need is there for land? More powerful than land is dominion, and more dangerous than dominion is what threatens Pra dhā na jī va most. Like a whole ship about to collapse in the middle of a great river, the subjects and rulers, without realizing the situation, were indulging in actions like the blind feeling an elephant. All of Mar yul (Ladakh) was decaying like oil smeared on a decaying corpse, especially with local unrest and, in general, border wars arising from common affairs, so that even the ruler of Kashmir was eyeing the fort of Ladakh, and the borders of the cold regions were showing signs of being violated. It seems that the time has come when even the non-humans who delight in the dark side have become arrogant with whatever power, army, and miracles they possess. In general, through the power of the teachings of the great protectors of the snowy land (Avalokiteśvara) and the great guides, how could the great deeds of a small person like me, who is attached to self, be of any avail? However, I raised an army with only my own pure intention, appeased the non-human dark forces with offerings, allied with the white forces, pretended to take the path of emptiness and compassion as my own, and truthfully explained and elaborated it to the rulers and subjects of Mar yul (Ladakh). At first, pacifying with peace and disciplining with harshness made your mind very uneasy, and you seemed to have no joy at all. Later, with the accomplishment of your brother Legs-spel Grub-pa and the temporary calming of your illness, the situation gradually improved. Finally, during the time of uncle and nephew Legs-spel, you approved most of my insistent requests and began to incline towards noble and sacred conduct. This was a cause of benefit to Buddhism and beings in general, and especially to the rulers and subjects of Mar yul (Ladakh), it was like bringing them back to life from the brink of ruin. Even so, you did not express immeasurable joy by saying "Thank you," but I knew that deep down you were truly happy. After all, noble people have great shame and gratitude, and in fact, these qualities are indispensable, as they are essential for attaining the states of gods and humans.
