Although there may be instances of entering (the Mantrayana), from the eighth Bhumi onwards, one does not rely on other conditions, but enters knowingly through the self-power of the Mantrayana state. Therefore, even though it is not taught in the Sutra path that one must enter the Mantrayana, from the eighth Bhumi onwards, there is no opportunity for the path of spontaneous knowledge to be incomplete or interrupted. Furthermore, regardless of whether the initial gateway is Sutra or Tantra, one must ultimately incline towards Tantra. Therefore, when the fruit of perfect and complete Buddhahood is attained, there is no distinction between Buddhas of Sutra and Tantra. Thus, understanding it in this way, there is no fault. In general, this could be extensively explained, and there is also a great need, but here, it is only necessary to raise a few questions and not elaborate further. Furthermore, what is to be said here is that in the past, during the time of the Dharma King Bodhisattva, what was known as "Tonmed" or "Tse Yaman" was a Chinese term. It seems that in Tibetan it means "entering all at once" and "entering gradually." Among these, entering all at once means not making other activities of listening and thinking the main focus, but taking meditation and contemplation as the core of all activities. Even now, the upholders of the teachings in China, such as the Hwashang Tsungmen, are like that. In Tibet, whether monks or laypeople, without distinction, they receive mind training, and those who initially wish to engage in profound inner meaning are mostly in accordance with this and not otherwise. Entering gradually means cutting off external attachments with the wisdom of listening, then cutting off internal attachments with the wisdom of thinking, and then cutting off intermediate attachments with the wisdom of meditation. It is considered that listening, thinking, and meditating are entered into gradually. This is consistent with the essential points of the seven-fold conduct spoken of in the Dzogchen "Sun and Moon Union Tantra." That is, this method is divided into entering all at once and entering gradually according to the differences in the faculties of beings, and it is not the case that the sect of the eight gateways of the Chinese Khenpo Hwashang Tiji Dashi Tawan appeared in Tibet and was thus named. Therefore, in the past, the great Abbot Yeshe Wangpo and others, who followed the Indian Abbot Shantarakshita, relied on the three wisdoms as an increasing condition, so there was gradual entry, as well as the Chinese Abbot Mahayana.

It should be known that the followers of [Chan Buddhism] focus solely on meditation, hence they are known as "sudden enlightenment." Some people think that the views of the Heshang are not entirely pure, because in the past, during the time of Lhatsunpo Changchub Sempa, Indian pandit Kamalaśīla and Tibetan sBa Yeshe Wangpo, Pal Yang, and other holy figures forbade it. Later, some great scholars also prevented it, so how can it be a reliable basis? In general, just because there is a dispute, it does not make the sacred Dharma impure. For example, the various Hinayana schools and the Mahayana Mind-Only school, the true and false, Svatantrika and Prasangika, argue with each other, but it can still be determined that it is the pure Buddha's teaching. In the past, during the time of Lhatsunpo, considering that future disputes would arise, only the Sarvastivada school of Hinayana was allowed to enter, and other schools were not allowed to enter. The inner tantra uncommon parts of mantra were also practiced in a very secret way, and common translations were not allowed. Similarly, the views and meditation of the Chinese Heshang were seen to have flawed elements at that time. In particular, the incarnate Lama Chögyal and others, with their vast clairvoyance, knew and saw that in the future, many errors would arise from relying on this view and meditation, as well as many uncertainties in sectarian disputes between schools, so they clearly prevented the Heshang's views and meditation. Know that it is not entirely wrong to prevent it. The debates and affirmations at that time were mostly admitted in the argument. Why does the Heshang's view acknowledge that the cause of wandering in samsara, which should be abandoned, is the conceptual mind of grasping and being grasped? And the path of liberation that should be accomplished is considered to be focused on not thinking, not contemplating, not discriminating, and not clinging to anything? And the saying "not remembering anything" is also applying the name of memory to conceptual thought, but in reality, it is non-conceptual, which is the same as the meaning of the word, and it is not entering into the decline of correct mindfulness. Similarly, if it is said that the discipline, loving conduct, and the four means of gathering, which are the companions of the path, are pure actions, then at that time, the general public in Tibet did not like learning, thinking, and meditating, unless there was the blessing of the special mantra path, otherwise other stages of meditation
