Thus, the key point of the path has been grasped. In general, if there is no definite certainty about the view, then most actions will go towards the worldly path. If the key oral instructions are not integrated into one's mind, then most methods will turn into the cause of samsara. In general, without deliberately abandoning or pursuing anything, it is crucial to take whatever arises as the path. Train yourself to be free from all attachments, in a state of illusion. This is the key point of practice, please keep it in mind. In general, body, speech, and mind should be cautious, externally guiding the willingness of those to be tamed, internally digesting the offerings and food of believers, and secretly, the adornment of the teachings, these three ways of benefiting others, should be practiced at all times, keep them in mind. I have briefly spoken the key oral instruction advice. Please practice it together in the depths of your heart. This was said in the early morning of the eighteenth day of the Smin-drug month of the Fire Sheep year (1967), at the sacred site of "Za-og" in the east of Khyungdzong Karmo in the Mang-yul Gungthang kingdom, where Jetsun Milarepa and Rechungpa first met, by Dokham Katok Tsewang Norbu at the request of his disciple Kunzang Choying Palbar, a practitioner of Nyewo Ugyen in Kyid-grong (now in Nepal). A Song for Those Who Listen and the Devotees Gathered Here Hey! Please listen, and you devotees gathered here. Please contemplate the principle that all is impermanent and illusory. Now is the degenerate age, the force of karma is heavy, the more one thinks about karma, the more one feels weary. Year after year, the situation gets worse and worse. The noise of war is louder than thunder. Taxes and corvée are numerous, without end. One is more tyrannical than the other, everything is terrible. The situation is worrying about victory and defeat, the suffering is great. Without freedom, one is used as a mercenary to fight the enemy. The accumulated wealth, one does not even know who will enjoy it. One has to watch the faces of many officials, body and mind are enslaved. Expecting to receive help, but instead suffering harm. Many powerful and weak people have reversed positions. Like-minded friends are scattered. Warriors sacrifice their lives to the enemy. Everything one does turns into sin. One always hopes that next year, the year after next, will be better. But the result is even worse, more painful than before. Life is exhausted, suffering also ends, and then one dies. Once the Lord of Death snares one with his rope, due to being busy with affairs, one cannot refuse, one can only leave helplessly. Even if one remembers the Dharma, one does not have the right to stay. Even if one fears death, one is helpless, alas! Knowing full well, one still clings to food and wealth, the wealth accumulated by various means, at that time, one cannot take it away autonomously. Therefore, one should think carefully and have faith in the Dharma.

From the depths of my heart, I seek (the Dharma). Those beloved friends, family, and relatives, unable to part, cling to each other with one mind. When death arrives, they separate helplessly. Thinking of this, I seek the divine Dharma from the depths of my heart. Fleeting happiness is like a dream, it is impermanent and changes in an instant. Now, if you want to attain unchanging happiness, isn't it good to practice the true Dharma? Now, these things of life and samsara, none can last forever. All are impermanent and will turn to death. If you remember this, your mind and heart will tremble. The supreme Lama is impermanent like a rainbow disappearing, officials and rulers are impermanent like mist, close relatives are like the stars at dawn, wealth and enjoyment are like honey from bees, power and authority are like leaves on trees in late autumn, life is as short as lightning in the sky, the mind is like a small bird flying from a tree. Such examples of impermanence are endless. Thinking of this, I seek the one Dharma from the depths of my heart. Non-virtuous actions, sins, avoid them like poison. For virtuous actions, strive to do whatever you can. Make the Lama your eternal protector, make the Dharma teachings your eternal wealth, make accumulating merit your eternal field, make love and compassion your eternal palace. In whatever you do, Dharma or worldly affairs, be kind in your actions, have a long-term vision, and possess shame and prudence. This is the best code of conduct for this life and the next. Disregarding shame, not listening to advice, being unstable, acting rashly, and easily changing faith, devotion, and respect, these are the misfortunes of this life and the next. In short, at all times, entrust your mind to the Three Jewels, who will not deceive you. Taking the Three Jewels as your refuge in this life and the next is the best. From the depths of your heart, generate devout faith in the supreme Lama, and carefully consider the unfailing nature of karma. Taming your own mind is the root of all Dharma. Protect the vows without deviating from the essential points. Practice diligently without distraction. In general, so that there is no regret at the time of death, isn't it good to start doing it now? Putting off what needs to be done tomorrow until the day after tomorrow, and life is exhausted. Do not be controlled by those circumstances, but focus your mind on the Dharma. In general, if you do not remember impermanence and death, the thought of practicing Dharma will be postponed again and again. Therefore, remember impermanence, and everyone should strive to practice the sacred Dharma! This was written at the secluded Gau Lhading in Mangyul Gungtang, at the request of faithful people, to generate impermanence and renunciation.
