Impermanence changes, not permanent bliss. Therefore, focusing on permanent bliss, strive to generate Bodhicitta, practice Yidam, and recite mantras. If devotion and respect arise from the depths of your heart for me, then look nakedly at the self-nature of devotion, self-awareness. Seeing that, self-awareness dawns as the essence of the Lama. The essence of the profound path Lama practice is just that. If many words are elaborated, there is no end. If practice is condensed into essence, it is contained within that. Thus, by the descendant of the Buddha Thogton, Lama Nyidor of Kyirong (present-day Kyirong County, Tibet) Trading Post, out of compassion for him who was afflicted by illness and demonic obstacles, the impartial Sky Yoga practitioner, Vidyadhara Tshewang Norbu, composed this short text from Lhamo Gang. Sarva Mangalam! A Prayer to Dispel Lineage Afflictions: The Cool Shade of the Sala Tree Svasti (藏文,梵文天城体,svasti, auspicious). Cutting through all the nets of existence and peace, not dwelling in the place of tranquility, to the complete and perfect Buddha who speaks of non-duality, I constantly prostrate and pray for the bestowal of all auspiciousness. Among the garlands of trees born of pure lineage, like the towering Sala tree, the lineage of the tongue, possessing the wisdom to understand both conventional and ultimate truths, the incarnate body, to alleviate his weariness, I offer this prayer. All conditioned phenomena are impermanent, this is what the Victorious One and all his sons have taught. Therefore, one should remember the nature of impermanence as it is, that is, its state: countries are impermanent, like cities of gandharvas; gatherings are impermanent, like travelers in a caravan; family members are impermanent, like stars at dawn; parents are impermanent, like the moon on the third day; oneself is impermanent, like a cold ember; possessions are impermanent, like dew on grass; lords and ministers are impermanent, like autumn flowers; power and loss are impermanent, like pebbles played with by children; pleasant words are like echoes in the mountains; opportunities for happiness are like lightning in the darkness; suffering is endless, like ripples on water; many new words are like blowing bellows on coal fire; all appearances are unreal illusions; however they appear, they are like the moment of waking from a dream; the nature of samsara is entirely suffering, especially in this final age of the five degenerations, if there is no genuine renunciation, there is no other way, therefore one should focus single-mindedly on the supreme Dharma. Therefore, at a time when circumstances and situations are greatly changing, although the passing of the father is extremely unfortunate, all mundane things are un

Always be mindful and abandon mental fatigue for a long time. The glory of samsara is like the fruit of Kimpa, which is pleasant at first but ultimately a source of suffering. Since there is no essence in whatever you look at, look to the exhortation to strive from the heart for the desire for eternal happiness, the sacred Dharma. What need is there to say that the body, like a water bubble born in the degenerate age, will quickly perish? Even the wheel-turning king, who possesses the power of merit, and Brahma and Indra are impermanent. Therefore, even the Vajra body with marks and signs of the most supreme and perfect Buddha manifests decay, what need is there to say about other sentient beings? The definitive meaning of the Buddhas, the Dharmadhatu pure land, the complete enjoyment body that transforms into a support with thick ornamentation, the support is the Dharmakaya, the manner of body and wisdom, other than that Victorious One who is the union inseparable, all others are of an impermanent nature. Therefore, the place of constant, stable, and blissful peace, to accomplish that state, with the diligence of the heart, it is appropriate to strive at this time. Therefore, all the appearances of happiness and suffering in this life are like fleeting dreams and illusions. It is not a place to be attached to, but strive to take the path in a state of emptiness and non-attachment. The ultimate essence and lifeblood of all dharmas, have faith in the infallible law of karma, and establish the foundation of vast altruistic intention. Establish devotion to the Guru and vows as the life force. Even if heaven and earth turn upside down and the ocean churns, never abandon the root Guru and the Three Jewels. Do not forget to meditate clearly in the center of your heart, for this establishes the foundation of the path to eternal bliss and enlightenment. The ultimate destination of all dharmas is when devotion to the Guru strikes the vital point, blessings enter the heart, and in its own radiance, the Dharmakaya, the original nature of reality, is self-aware, empty, and clear, transcending all grasping. This is the emptiness that even the Buddhas do not see, the luminous nature that is the basis of all appearances of samsara and nirvana. Turning that towards the path is experience, and the terms for partial views and realization. Even the ultimate Buddha, progressing higher on the grounds and paths, is the manifestation of this nature, and there is no other way. Strive for this eternal, blissful, and immortal state. All eighty-four thousand teachings spoken by the Buddha can ultimately be condensed into the essence.
