The key to becoming (a Buddha) is to rely on dependent origination, All of this is solely due to the blessings of the Guru. Moreover, before any connection with empowerment and Dharma, It is very important to carefully examine the qualities of the Guru. Those who are mixed with broken vows and have defects, Should not be examined after receiving empowerment and Dharma connection. The common meaning of empowerment and especially the meaning of mind essence, The Guru who reveals is superior to all Buddhas. Cherish like your eyes, love like your heart, Pray devoutly without hypocrisy. The essence of the eighty-four thousand Dharmas is, The ultimate method to attain Buddhahood, Its ultimate is the two stages of maturation and liberation, Its lifeblood is devotion to the Guru. As the indispensable essence of Dharma, Say it a hundred times, a thousand times, the root lies in this. If you say it like this, there is no end, Please remember these important words I have said. This was written by Tshewang Norbu, a Vidyadhara of Jongpa Lung, at the request of Phuntsok Namgyal, son of the accountant of the Dzong residence of Kongyul Tselhagang (present-day Garzê Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture, Sichuan), on the third joyful day of the red side of the Gemini month (fourth month of the Tibetan calendar) of the Wood Ox year (1925) according to the Phukluk calendar. Sarva Mangalam (Tibetan, Sanskrit Devanagari: सर्व मङ्गलम्, Sanskrit Romanization: sarva maṅgalam, Chinese literal meaning: all auspicious). Quintessence of Oral Instructions. Hey! Faithful ones, come here and listen. This precious human rebirth with leisure and opportunity is difficult to obtain, There is no certainty when you will die, keep it in mind, What is beneficial at the time of death is the supreme Dharma. Rely on the infallible refuge of the Three Jewels, Generate the compassionate mind of seeing all beings as your parents, Diligently accumulate the Mandala, which is easy and meaningful, And also strive for the hundred-syllable mantra to purify obscurations. In order for the Buddha's teachings to flourish forever, The only method praised is to rely on a virtuous friend and Guru. Therefore, to the Guru with deep faith, Offer sincere prayers without hypocrisy. The generation stage of the Mantrayana path is the illusion of appearance and emptiness, The completion stage is recognizing the original face of mind essence. Unwavering awareness should be constantly stable, And it should also be embraced by Bodhicitta. The main point is to abandon attachment to Samsara, Establish devotion to the Guru and vows as the pillar of your life. Do not be lazy in body, speech, and mind, strive to do good, Do not let this human rebirth with leisure and opportunity be wasted, but seize its essence. Because I do not want to say too many complicated words, These words that condense the main points into essence, Were written by the Vidyadhara Tshewang Norbu, For Ajo Tenzinpa.

These are instructions. Sarva Mangalam (Tibetan, Devanagari: सर्व मङ्गलम्, Romanized Sanskrit: sarva maṅgalam, Literal Chinese meaning: All auspiciousness)! The Udumbara Flower of Instructions. Ema, listen, practitioners and yogis! Do not be confused by writing too many words, and abide in solitude like a precious jewel. What instructions are there for someone as distracted as me? However, in order not to disappoint your urging, I will make a slight indication, and speak here some truths like seeds. It is very difficult to obtain leisure and endowment in the six realms of beings, as rare as the Udumbara flower. It is uncertain when one will die, life is as fleeting as lightning, and every hour brings one closer to death. The fruits of black and white karma are true and unfailing, following karma like a river. The supreme state of liberation is the fully enlightened Buddha, therefore one should strive to practice the path to Buddhahood. These four thoughts that turn the mind are the foundation of the Dharma, and are the indispensable ladder to liberation. The essence of all refuges is the Lama, and whatever happens, place your hope in him. All sentient beings in the six realms are of the nature of parents, and all virtuous deeds are dedicated solely to the benefit of beings. The essence of all Sutras and Tantras is the method for realizing the nature of one's own awareness. The differences in paths include Mahamudra, Tranquility and Cutting Through, as well as the Six Dharmas of Naropa, Lamdre, the Six Yogas, Dzogchen, etc., but the ultimate key point of all of these is the blessing of the Lama and devotion. With this, all Dharmas have a life force; without this, the life force of the Dharma is cut off. Therefore, whatever happiness or suffering, difficulty or ease may arise, maintain unwavering devotion to the Lama, and drive the stake of faith and commitment into your heart. The Lama who can unite one's own mind with the Dharmakaya is superior to all Buddhas. No matter how he appears in the eyes of others, view him as the actual Vajrasattva. Through this power, the fruit of realization will ripen. The so-called realization is merely the difference between recognizing one's own nature and not recognizing it. This present, unfabricated awareness, although called "this," even this word is just an empty name. It transcends the elaborations of existence and non-existence, is and is not, and is the Dharmata that cannot be measured by thought. This is what is called the reality of Suchness. If, for the time being, one is to grasp the essential points of the Sutras, it is to cut off the pursuit of past thoughts and the clinging to future thoughts, and to leave the present awareness unadorned, naturally as it is, and inexpressible.
