Having firmly established the essence of self-awareness, when one engages in the path of liberation from the three realms, there is no doubt that one will achieve Buddhahood in a single lifetime. Fortunate son, enter that supreme and ultimate path! If the meaning of the scriptures is condensed into its essence, it is the core of practice. Establish the foundation of devotion to the Guru's path, and constantly erect the watchtower of unwavering mindfulness, abiding in the grasp of impartial compassion. Thus, although the elaboration of words is not extensive, it is a complete summary of the essential points of practice. This song was sung at the request of Tshewang Palbar, a faithful member of the royal family from Chim in Kongpo (Kongpo, present-day Nyingchi area). This was also spoken by Orgyen Rigdzin Tshewang Norbu at Lhagyada on the eighth day of the waxing moon of the Gyal month (Tibetan New Year) of the thirteenth Rabjung cycle. Sarva Mangalam (Sanskrit, सर्व मङ्गलम्, sarva maṅgalam, All auspicious!). ༈ Oral Instructions: Devotional Yoga Svasti (Sanskrit, स्वस्ति, svasti, auspicious). Although there may be hundreds or thousands of gurus, the guru who introduces one to one's own mind is the most supreme. More kind than the Buddhas, I prostrate to the root guru. The very essence of one's own mind transcends all arising, ceasing, and abiding. The Dzogchenpas call this "Rigpa" (awareness). When taking this as the path, there is no other essential practice than non-distraction and non-contrivance. Therefore, maintain unwavering naturalness. That is also what is meant by "no separation between abiding and moving." Abiding is without arising, and moving manifests without ceasing. Abiding, moving, arising, and ceasing are without separation. Undistracted mindfulness is the path of all Buddhas; distraction is the arena of samsara. Therefore, in the state of undistracted mindfulness, integrate day and night into one. The nature of mind is luminosity; it must be cleansed of the stains of conceptual thought. Do not accept or reject movement; movement should naturally dissolve. The root of generating virtue is also solely devotion to the guru. Therefore, constantly strive without laziness in Guru Yoga. Although there are endless things to say about these and other topics, according to the present occasion, may the realization of practice increase like the waxing moon through these few words that I have spoken! This was spoken by Rigdzin Tshewang Norbu in Montang on the third day of the waxing moon of the Gyal month in the Earth-Snake year (1869) for the practice of Agon Tenzin, the king of Lo in Lower Ngari. Sarva Mangalam (Sanskrit, सर्व मङ्गलम्, sarva maṅgalam, All auspicious!). Oral Instructions: A Song of View, Meditation, Conduct, and Result Om Svasti (Sanskrit, ॐ स्वस्ति, oṃ svasti, Om, auspicious).

To the unequaled, perfectly enlightened Buddha, the supreme lineage Amitabha, the protector Vajra Dharma, and the root guru who embodies all objects of mindfulness, I prostrate until the essence of enlightenment. At the urging of fortunate disciples, I will write down a few words of instruction here. If you wish to enter the path of higher realms, you must know and fear the suffering of the lower realms. If you wish to strive for the path of definite goodness and liberation, you must be weary of the appearances of the three realms of samsara. To practice the sacred Dharma of the divine from the heart, you must always remember impermanence and renunciation. If you wish to enter the supreme path of enlightenment, you must have only the altruistic intention to benefit others. If you wish to receive the blessings of the secret mantra Dharma, you must have devotion to the lama who can conquer death. The gateway to the Dharma of the Vajrayana is to maintain unbroken practice and have continuous empowerment. As an antidote to prevent impure appearances, you must stabilize the clear appearance of the deity in the generation stage. To destroy attachment to ordinary sounds, you must always recite the mantra of the yidam deity. To cut the stream of mental confusion, you must always have the unwavering boat of mindfulness. Thus, this instruction that gathers the nine necessities, may you, fortunate disciples, always keep it in the center of your hearts and practice it. The Vajra Acharya Tsulzin advises. Alas! There is still one essential word, the key point of the practice of the most secret Great Perfection. The king of views, the nature of one's own mind, the dharmadhatu, is the nature of being free from arising, ceasing, and abiding, all-pervasive, and free from elaboration. It is neither existent nor nonexistent, free from permanence and annihilation, and free from location. This freedom from affirmation and identification is the view. Thus, the meaning of settling the view as it is, is to be unscattered in that awareness. Not deliberately tightening, not deliberately loosening, naturally resting, like stars in the sea. There is no grasping, but there is self-knowing. Unscattered, without thought, is the king of meditation. Thoughts, good and bad, actions, good and bad, conduct, going, staying, speaking, much or little, solitary places and gatherings, whatever is done, the mind is unscattered in mindfulness. Like the waves of the ocean, all are one water, all are the self-display of the dharmakaya's self-nature. There is no abandoning or adopting, no antidote or difference, this is the supreme conduct of the Great Perfection. The order of view, meditation, and conduct is like this.
