And each has their own thoughts. Those who practice according to the Dharma go to the solitary places. The great meditators go to take up residence in retreat houses. The aimless ones wander to the ends of the earth. The shameless, Dharma-pretending ones greedily snatch up offerings. Some covet clothes, some covet gold. Some covet tea and silk, some covet gold and silver. Some covet statues, some covet books. Some covet monastic retinues, some covet monasteries and estates. Some covet offerings, some covet utensils. Some covet tents, some covet livestock. The face of impermanence is clearly revealed. Most monasteries disperse like guests at a market. The new, lesser meditators lose their meditation. The great, realized meditators plant the seeds of realization. In short, the monks who have the ability to think, Utter long sighs of much regret. Those who desire the Dharma regret not having asked for the sacred Dharma. Those with wisdom regret not having asked questions. Those who desire empowerment regret not having practiced. All those who desire pith instructions regret not having received personal instructions. The narrow-minded ones, not knowing benefit or harm, Act as they please, doing whatever they like. Some who wasted their time when the lama was alive, Remembering it later, regret that confession and purification are not accomplished. Some regret not having done whatever the lama said. Some regret not having served inseparably. Some regret not having strived in meditation. Some regret not having studied and practiced qualities. Some regret that the lama was very kind to them, But they did not appreciate it at the time and now greatly regret it. In any case, the evil demons laugh. The gods who protect the white side grieve. Those who have the ten perfections sing songs of joy. The servants who depend on them suffer miserably. The enemies who destroy the teachings smile. The upholders of the teachings feel ashamed. All those who are attached to their own side become weary. All those who have heartfelt devotion to the lama shed tears. The monks who have broken their vows secretly rejoice. Some attendants and alms-eaters secretly laugh. Those who desire non-Dharma act freely and are happy. Most remain neutral, without joy or sorrow. Such a time will definitely come, Have you not heard of the passing away and remaining of the assemblies of lamas Of the vidyadharas, siddhas, and Kagyu lineage of the past? Now, seeing this closely, you should contemplate it. Therefore, brothers and sisters, monastic community, think well.

And now, at this time of meeting the Lama Buddha, people have hearts, and hearts have bones. Fortunate ones, strive in Dharma! Emaho, Dharma-minded Dharma brothers and sisters, please keep these essential teachings in your hearts. Nowadays, among the disciples who rely on a Lama, or those who become attendants and associate with the Lama, very few know that the Lama is the complete and perfect Buddha and Bodhisattva. Some may have a little faith at first, but after a long time, due to some circumstances, many develop wrong views. No matter what faults you see in the Lama, all are merely faults of your own deluded mind. Just as someone with cataracts sees hairs in peacock feathers, and someone with jaundice sees a conch shell as yellow. Unless your own faults are purified from within, the appearance of faults from the outside will be endless. The Buddha's attendant, the monk Legpa'i Kar, even saw Shakyamuni Buddha as a collection of faults. To have faults caused by the delusion of your own mind is no different from seeing the Buddha in person. Therefore, all who think the Lama has faults, the Lama has no faults, it is your own mind that has faults! If someone sees the Lama's scolding, punishment, etc., as harmful to themselves, it is also because of the faults of their own heavy karma that such appearances arise. Why do hell beings, tormented by afflictions, see Kuntuzangpo as the King of Yama? They hear the teaching of the sacred Dharma as sounds of fighting and killing. This is also an illusion arising from the delusion of their own mind. If it were definitely true, who made the red-hot iron? Can Yama himself burn sentient beings? Think about the suffering of that karma, the fire will not be extinguished. All those are illusions of the hell beings' own minds. Therefore, the Lama's scolding, beating, etc., should be recognized as appearances of your own bad karma, and do not have wrong views. Recognize them as brooms that sweep away sins and obscurations. Understand this and purify yourself, and great things will be accomplished. Think well, from beginningless samsara, countless beatings, sufferings, births, and deaths, all that has been done has been in vain. Now, whatever beatings, harsh words, and whatever the Lama, who guides the path to liberation, does, all will surely become causes for enlightenment. This is the essence of action, which accomplishes great things. The scolding and beating themselves are of great kindness. Harsh words of scolding are the supreme Dharma. The punishment and beating...
