They value this. Some, with contemptuous behavior towards the Lama, cause displeasure and accumulate the cause for falling into lower realms. Some initially serve well, but eventually act improperly and greatly break their vows. In short, due to the power of this degenerate age, no matter who you look at in the monastery, young or old, you don't see anyone who completely renounces attachment to impermanence and the thought of death, or who has thorough diligence in Dharma. For the sake of their father's wealth and gatherings with relatives, they spare no effort in bustling about, even sacrificing their lives. When they meet the Lama, they are happy to see a woman with a pale face and greet her with smiles. They would rather choose a full cup of alcohol than a profound instruction. They value the words of a trickster more than the Lama's teachings. When happiness and comfort arise, they don't recognize the Lama's kindness. They desire more and more happiness, wanting to prosper more and more. They think there is something better elsewhere. They extol other good examples and reasons, but get angry at the Lama. They are displeased with encouragement to practice virtue and the enforcement of monastic rules, even regarding them as enemies. If they have to do even a little work for the Lama, they can't bear the slightest adversity and always exaggerate their suffering, constantly complaining. For their own business profits, when going to Ü-Tsang (Central Tibet), they endure unbearable suffering from heat, cold, hunger, and thirst, even risking their precious lives without complaint. Even if they spend their whole lives on worldly affairs, they are still not satisfied and feel great distress about it. When practicing retreat or serving the Lama for a few months, they become weary and tired, always boasting about their merits and demanding repayment. Some monasteries don't consider the long term and act recklessly as they please. Some, even when old, still have immature thoughts, like children's playmates, lacking the ability to distinguish good from bad. Some monasteries pretend to study knowledge, but don't seek the true nature of things, only pursuing worldly knowledge. When the Lama teaches the sacred Dharma, they are inattentive, like a stone falling into water, unable to penetrate their minds. Some people talk and talk, preaching Dharma incessantly, but it doesn't benefit themselves, like a parrot repeating words. Some, knowing the cause and effect of vows, don't keep their commitments and create the cause for falling into the Vajra Hell. Most people pretend to keep their vows when it's easy, but when it's difficult, they throw cause and effect and their vows behind them. In short, they don't remember impermanence and death, and don't understand the distinction between good and bad actions and their consequences.

Thus. If you do not know the benefits and dangers of powerful vows, then letting afflictions be self-indulgent is like that. There is no end to exhaustion, why bother talking about it? Although I am not attacking the faults of the Sangha, if you do not know the faults, you cannot accomplish virtues. If saying this slightly becomes a rude word, causing the minds of fellow practitioners to be disturbed, then I am deeply ashamed, please forgive me, Those who sincerely practice the Dharma from the heart, must know and abandon such bad behavior. This life is like a flash of lightning in the darkness, Constantly clinging to the distractions of this life alone, Few listen to the vast and beneficial teachings. Who can benefit this stubborn mind? Alas! This evil time is worse than the five degenerations, Look at the behavior of myself and others at this time, Apart from involuntarily shedding tears, There is nothing else, when will death come? The regret of a monk without Dharma at the time of death, is like looking for a way to reconnect after the head has been cut off. Therefore, now is the time to take advantage of the leisure, Like the sunlight between the clouds, strive to practice the Dharma for these twenty days. Oh! Dear friends, please listen to me, If you do not urge yourself to practice the Dharma, then there will be no one to encourage you to practice, It is difficult, you should think for yourself. Therefore, now when staying in the presence of the Lama, In the midst of the Sangha playing, laughing, and joking, The daytime scenery is distracted, and the eyes wander, Endless affairs entangle, and at night crave sleep. Even if pretending to be in retreat in a secluded place, However, lying down like a corpse, doing whatever you want, unrestrained, Dualistic thoughts and delusions are rampant, running wild, Like a meaningless mouse sleeping in a hole, Whether in the Sangha or in a secluded place, it is the same, Life is short, and it is unknown where it has gone, Even if you have heard the Dharma for many years and meditated for many years, But the true meaning remains like longing for the throne of a king. Even if you rely on a qualified Lama for a lifetime, But virtues are not stained, like water and mercury. When will life come upon oneself, At the time of death, when the mind trembles, Because you have not diligently practiced the Dharma, and life has been wasted, Seeing your own faults, what is the use of regretting? Or your own root Lama, The object of reliance has passed away, has passed into peace, When you see and hear this, is it true or false? Alas! Is it not true, is it a dream? Thinking like this, the heart is sad, the mind wavers, and wails. The Sangha
