From the mere arising of the intention to practice, demonic obstacles begin to create hindrances, and once the determination to engage in practice is made, they obstruct even more. That is, they disguise themselves as one's own parents and other relatives to dissuade one, and similarly, close friends, monastic patrons who are attached, and even those who are naturally neutral will also obstruct one in the manner of admonishment. Also, Khenpos, Acharyas, and those who uphold the discipline will dissuade one from practice according to their respective situations, saying that one is still young and there will be plenty of time to practice later. Some say that now is the beginning of taming sentient beings and carrying out activities, so it is important to manage these for the time being, and one can eventually practice. Some say, "We are advising you with such sincerity, but you don't listen, alas!" and dissuade one with a very loving and pitiful demeanor. Some say, "If you go to practice, we will wander or starve." Some say, "If you go to practice, our livelihood and service will be impossible, do as you please." Sometimes they say, "This year, you must complete such and such important matters and such and such great matters, and from tomorrow you will definitely be able to begin practice," and so on. In short, they deceive with gentle persuasion, threaten with anger and violence, and all sorts of gentle or angry advice will arise, which cannot all be enumerated. Therefore, all these dissuasions from practice should be understood as like illusions, and one should not generate unpleasant or angry emotions, but strive not to be swayed by them. If parents and others dissuade one, one should say, "I often have nightmares and see many inauspicious omens, and if I do not practice this year, I will surely die, so please allow me to practice for the time being with compassion. In the future, I will definitely listen to my parents' teachings," and use skillful methods to persuade them and strive to obtain their consent. Why? Because parents have the greatest kindness towards oneself in this life and are the cause of obtaining this body, so the Buddhas have said that they should be approached and honored as if they were saints. Therefore, it is best if parents allow one to practice with joy, secondly, one should obtain their permission without their opposition, and at the very least, one should use gentle methods to ensure that one's practice does not cause harm to the lives of one's parents and obtain partial permission. For others, one should also use gentle

It is necessary to make a firm decision by oneself, without delay, through various means. Furthermore, among the most significant obstacles from demons are hindrances caused by kings who hold power over the land, chief ministers, and others. Some are forced into uncontrolled attachment and aversion due to the arrival of numerous external enemies. These are difficult to immediately overcome, so one should acknowledge defeat to those with grudges and resolve the animosity. To lords and rulers, one should earnestly appease their minds with offerings and sweet words. If, by any means, one cannot attain freedom, one should disguise oneself as a beggar, disappear without a trace, go to another country, and strive in meditation and practice. Moreover, some find it difficult to postpone Dharma practice due to the influence of temporary lamas and powerful Dharma brothers. Therefore, one must skillfully employ methods to engage in Dharma practice as it should be, without being controlled by them. Having endured many such difficulties and attained the freedom to practice, one should establish a place for practice and strive to gain warmth in the two stages (generation and completion). If this is not achieved, then whatever one does in this life and the next will be meaningless. Therefore, one must be resolute, for it is crucial, crucial! Furthermore, in the context of the aforementioned lamas, khenpos, and Dharma brothers, it should be understood as follows: even if they have no Dharma connection with oneself, they are like officials who wield power over monasteries and sanghas. If there is a Dharma connection, one should cherish the pure perception that whatever they do is virtuous and strive for it. Even if one is focused on one's own practice, one must skillfully avoid breaking vows and, by any means, obtain some verbal permission. In contrast, the Vajra Master who has received the blessings of empowerment, transmission, and oral instruction is called the supreme lama. If he is displeased and does not grant permission, then even if one strives for a hundred kalpas in meditation and practice, no qualities will arise, just like trying to churn clear water to obtain butter. If he is pleased, then even engaging in non-virtuous actions can lead to the path of great enlightenment. Therefore, one has no choice but to strive to do only what pleases him. In reality, even more so than engaging in hardship and suffering for hundreds of years, slightly serving the lama with pure body, speech, and mind will undoubtedly accumulate greater merit. Therefore, one should diligently serve the lama. If one does not clearly distinguish in this way and remains confused, thinking of practicing Dharma according to one's own desires, one will fall into the Vajra Hell.
