The fundamental is very important. When we speak of the clarity of awareness here, it refers to the very nature of awareness, which is clear, bright, and utterly transparent. If you can maintain this state in all your activities, that is sufficient. That is, from emptiness, it appears; from appearance, it is clear; and from clarity, it is a vast, groundless expanse. If you rest naturally in this without fabrication, you don't need to seek meditation elsewhere. Thus, when awareness is left naturally, without fabrication, and nakedly, it doesn't project outward, contract inward, or think in between. By staring directly at its own face, it is self-clear and naked, without inner, outer, or middle. Such a Dharmakaya, uncorrupted by view and meditation, and such a wisdom, unutilized by discursive thoughts, will naturally arise. The key is to rest in that state without fabrication. Although it has never been separated from all sentient beings for a single moment, we wander in samsara, deluded by the elaborations of negative thoughts, because we do not recognize that it dwells within us. Now, recognizing your own mind, if you rest in the natural, original, unfabricated state, without distraction, then there is nothing of importance that is not included within it. In this way, in the Great Perfection self-liberation path, there is no blocking of arising, no establishing of abiding, but resting in the state of clear and unwavering awareness that transcends the objects of grasping and remembrance, and the thoughts that move, in the inseparability of arising and abiding, is the ocean-like meditation of simultaneous abiding.
