Even wanting to enjoy the warmth of the sun for a day and the happiness of drinking a cup of delicious tea, and not wanting suffering. However, one does not possess the cause of happiness—faith, renunciation, bodhicitta, and the result of happiness—from the happiness of higher realms of gods and humans to the happiness of the state of Buddhahood. Regarding the cause of suffering, with the kind mother who is used in the surroundings, not possessing both the cause and effect of happiness as the object of focus, and with the aspect of the mind, "May this mother in this life and all lifetimes possess the three jewels of the cause of happiness—faith, renunciation, and bodhicitta." How wonderful if she possessed it! I think, I will make her possess it. I pray to the Three Jewels to make her possess it. May she possess the result of happiness—from the state of higher realms of gods and humans to the result of happiness up to the state of complete and perfect Buddhahood. How wonderful if she possessed it! I think, I will make her possess it. I pray to the Three Jewels. Reciting "Ema Ehu, Three Jewels with great compassion," etc., and "Lama, Victorious One, Protector of beings," etc., and "Hero, you possess the power of compassion," etc. Thus, when possessing the warmth of happiness, without any hindrance, the mind is placed in whatever state it is in. Among them, the faith of deeply believing in cause and effect is the cause of going to higher realms. Renunciation is the cause of liberation. Bodhicitta is the cause of complete and perfect Buddhahood. Thus, from recognizing the mother to wanting to possess both the cause and effect of happiness is analytical meditation. Abiding without any hindrance is the samadhi of loving-kindness. In all session breaks, one must perform the actions of loving-kindness of body and speech. The actions of the mind are to think: I must accomplish all the temporary and ultimate happiness for these old mothers. And, for fathers, uncles, elders, and even all livestock, one must abandon the actions of loving-kindness of the body—beating, scolding, etc. Abandon the actions of speech—harsh words and unpleasant words. In terms of the actions of the mind, for all the temporary and ultimate happiness that sentient beings want to obtain, if it can be accomplished through thinking, then accomplish it through thinking, and if it can be accomplished through action, then accomplish it through action. In terms of non-objectification, generate the definite understanding that the three spheres are apparent but without inherent existence. When meditating on compassion, according to the tradition of Abu and Jowo, meditate starting from one's own root mother.

According to the view of Jigza Jigling, when meditating, one should focus on animals such as cattle and sheep that are about to be slaughtered, or on the sick and suffering, and meditate by regarding them as oneself or one's own old mother. Any way of meditating is acceptable. If a beginner meditates on their own root mother, then they should clearly visualize that old mother's skandhas, dhatus, and ayatanas in front of them. First, one should repeatedly recall the mother's kindness, not just once or twice, such as the kindness of giving body and life, etc.; also, the great kindness of the mother who toiled hard for livelihood, taking care of us day and night, etc.; also, teaching us about the world, teaching us to speak when we couldn't speak, teaching us to walk when we couldn't walk, teaching us to eat when we couldn't eat, teaching us to dress when we couldn't dress; recalling the kindness of the mother who raised us from childhood to youth, from youth to adulthood, until we became sensible. In terms of Dharma, recalling the leisure and endowments, etc. Generating the desire to repay kindness, what does such a kind mother want? She wants happiness, but we ourselves cannot cultivate the causes of happiness—faith, renunciation, and bodhicitta. There is no spiritual friend to guide us. Even if there is a guide, we do not follow their instructions. As it says in the Bodhisattvacharyavatara: "Though wishing for happiness, out of delusion, one destroys one's own happiness as if it were an enemy." Like this, we destroy the causes of happiness—virtuous deeds—as if we were seeing an enemy. We do not want suffering, but we indulge in creating the causes of suffering—non-virtuous deeds. "Though having the desire to abandon suffering, one still runs towards suffering." As this verse says, we do not want all the suffering of the three realms of samsara. We do not even want small sufferings such as being burned by a small spark or being pricked by a thorn. However, we create the causes of suffering—non-virtuous deeds—by doing non-virtuous deeds with our body, speaking non-virtuous words with our speech, and thinking non-virtuous thoughts with our mind. Like this, our wishes and actions are completely contradictory, and we are directly harmed by the truth of suffering and indirectly harmed by the truth of the origin of suffering. The suffering of this life escorts the suffering of the next life, the suffering of the next life welcomes the suffering of this life, and the suffering of the bardo connects them. Suffering is endowed with both cause and effect, and not only that
