Because from the perspective of appearance, dependent arising is not severed, emptiness eliminates the extreme of nihilism. Moreover, emptiness is not different from form, and form is not different from emptiness. Having thus established the nature of emptiness and dependent arising as inseparable, initial practitioners gradually negate the four extremes, thereby simultaneously drawing forth certainty. Therefore, those who consider the later Consequentialists to hold the view of "emptiness of inherent existence," if their view does not surpass the nominal ultimate of the Autonomists, let alone not being nominal, what need is there to say? The ultimate that is not nominal is, as stated in the Ornament: "By truly being free from elaboration, it is liberated from all aggregates." Therefore, when habituation becomes strength, the wisdom of individual self-awareness directly sees the realm of phenomena, and thus it is considered to be the nature that is free from the four or eight extremes of elaboration such as existence and non-existence, being and non-being. That is to say, all that is established as existence, non-existence, etc., is mind, but here the movement of the mind of duality is completely stopped, so merely clinging to non-elaboration is peaceful, and therefore it converges with the view of the Consequentialists. The two truths according to the Consequentialist Madhyamaka school are, as stated in Chandrakirti's "Entering the Middle Way": "Due to the obscuration of the nature of ignorance, it is called conventional; whatever is deceived by it is said to be the conventional truth by the Victorious One." Therefore, clinging to the mere appearance of conventional phenomena, those phenomena that are obscured by ignorance are established as conventional truth. Furthermore, it is also considered that there are two types of conventional truth, true and false, but it is not established from the perspective of whether the object itself is deceptive or not, as in the Autonomist school, but mainly from the perspective of whether the mind has harm or not. Therefore, the object of the six consciousnesses without mental harm is the true conventional, and what appears to the consciousness that is deceived by diseases such as bile is considered to be the false conventional. For the ultimate truth, unlike the Autonomist school, there is no distinction between nominal and non-nominal, but from the very beginning, the wisdom that is in accordance with the equipoise of the three noble ones is determined, and therefore the wisdom that is free from all extremes is determined, and the reality that is free from all clinging is established. As it is said: "Since I have no tenets, therefore I am without fault."

If one acknowledges without reservation, it is not because one fears the refutation of others and does not acknowledge, but because the acknowledgement of the nature of things is without clinging. This school considers the two truths to be different only in terms of negation. The higher Svātantrika school considers the two truths to be of the same essence but different in terms of negation. The lower school considers the two truths to be different in essence. Thus, the understanding of the two truths has been generally explained. Now, when it comes to the time of meditation, separating the sessions and the breaks between sessions, and having completed the preliminaries of the sessions, one enters the main practice of meditation. The term 'all phenomena' refers to all knowable phenomena. If these are gathered together, they are included in the five aggregates. And if these are further gathered, they are included in the two, form and consciousness. Therefore, one must meditate on the two, the selflessness of phenomena and the selflessness of persons. Among these, first, having established the appearance of what is to be negated, as it is said, 'The continuum is called a person; grasping at characteristics is called a phenomenon.' Therefore, the 'I' that thinks 'I have come here from beginningless time, and from here I will go to the other side,' focusing on the continuum of the aggregates, is the self of the person. The way of grasping it is uncertain. Sometimes one thinks 'I am there,' focusing on the aggregates as the self. If one asks 'What of yours is there?' one says 'My head is there,' thus focusing on the parts of the self. Therefore, focusing on the continuum is the grasping at the self of the person, and its object is the person. The basis of its imputation, the five aggregates, is the object of the self of phenomena, and grasping at it as real is the grasping at the self of phenomena. Moreover, the way of grasping at the self of the person is to grasp at it as permanent, single, and independent. Therefore, first, when examining whether the so-called self of the person is the same as or different from these five aggregates, if it is the same, then just as the self is permanent, single, and independent, the aggregates must also be permanent, single, and independent. Or, just as the aggregates are impermanent, multiple, and dependent on others, the self must also be impermanent, multiple, and dependent on others. Thus, upon examination, the self and the aggregates are not established as one. If they are different, then since they are not obscured by the three, place, time, and appearance, the self and the aggregates must be seen as different entities, but since they are not seen as different entities, the self is determined to be without a basis. After that, even if one thinks that only the aggregates exist, that is also not established. Because from the perspective of form, which is an obstructive phenomenon, it does not go beyond the accumulation of particles. That must also be determined to be the nature of indivisible particles. That also requires examination of the appearances of mountains, fields, rocks, houses, etc., in the external world.
