These were composed by Tibetan lamas and are not well-known in India. Therefore, the common Madhyamaka teachings are: The meaning of the Buddha's teachings, the Prajnaparamita (Mother of Buddhas), and the seventeen great scholars, which is explained as emptiness, is the collection of treatises on reasoning of the Madhyamaka of the noble Nagarjuna. The hidden meaning, which is explained as the realization of the path, is the Ornament of Realization of Maitreya. Primarily, the collections of treatises of the noble one and the Four Hundred Verses of Aryadeva should not be drawn into disputes as belonging to either Prasangika or Svatantrika, because the original Madhyamaka, as the fundamental basis of Prasangika and Svatantrika, is a common ground, the basis for understanding any meaning. The Brahmin scholar Buddhapalita explained the fundamental meaning as Prasangika, without using the terms "svabhava" (own-nature) and "truth." However, the Kshatriya scholar Bhavaviveka explained Buddhapalita's meaning as Svatantrika, arguing that it is unreasonable not to use the terms "svabhava" and "truth," as it would be like saying one has eyes but claims not to see. Therefore, he asserted that the eye does not exist by its own nature, does not exist in truth, and does not exist ultimately. Svatantrika is further divided into higher and lower categories. Scholars such as Acharya Shri Gupta and others assert that even the ultimate truth, which is like an illusion, is established through reasoning as if it were an illusion. The higher ones are Shantarakshita, Shantideva, and Kamalashila, known as the three eastern abbots of Svatantrika. We should follow their views. According to their system, the two truths are: As stated in the Two Truths: "Although appearances are similar, due to function and, the power and the lack of power, thus the distinction of conventional is made." That is to say, conventional truth, from the perspective of the characteristics of the object itself, does not deceive the mind. For example, the action of fire burning and water moistening is not deceptive. Therefore, from the perspective of the object itself, not deceiving, all self-characterized things that have the ability to function are valid conventional truths. Those that appear but cannot function, such as the appearance of two moons and a lamp drawn in a picture, are false conventional truths that cannot function. In ultimate truth, the nominal ultimate truth is that all phenomena from form to omniscient wisdom are devoid of the nature of one and many, therefore form is emptiness. By appearance, it eliminates the extreme of existence, and emptiness is form, emptiness is nothing at all.
