One should meditate. First, if you think about yourself, you were born alone at the time of your first birth. None of the wealth and possessions were brought along beforehand. In the next life, all relatives and friends are left behind, and not a single one follows. Therefore, since you have to go alone at the time of your first birth and at the time of your final death, you should now stay alone in a solitary place. In this way, abandoning attachment to external objects and clinging to sentient beings internally, one should rely on a solitary retreat. When relying on solitude, one should avoid falling into two extremes regarding necessities. As for dwellings, avoid dwelling in bad mountain caves and the like. As for food and clothing, avoid falling into the extreme of bad begging and easily obtained rags from dust heaps, and avoid falling into the extreme of craving offerings. Also, avoid extreme asceticism that is too tiring and exhausting, which causes obstacles to body and life, and one should avoid falling into two extremes. Then, after going to a solitary place, one should abandon discursive thoughts. In general, all distractions of discursive thoughts should be abandoned. In particular, attachment and clinging to these five objects of desire of the desire realm is desire. Among these, what makes the mind unable to abide and become distracted is attachment to the pleasure of women, so this should be mainly abandoned. One should contemplate its faults. If one is controlled by a woman, one cannot escape from it, so it is called a woman. Just as hail falls on a rice field, it destroys the virtues on the side of enlightenment, so it is called a black woman. To reverse attachment to such a woman or black woman, there are three aspects: first, it is difficult to obtain; second, its essence is impure; and third, its result is very harmful. First, without paying a price, one cannot naturally obtain a woman. If one has a little property, one cannot obtain a woman without paying a lot of horses and mules. Even if one is a monk, one must give the bowl, bell, and robe to the woman. Thus, the woman obtained through sin and suffering is impure in nature, possessing the nature of thirty-six impure substances. Now, the eyes are deluded by the appearance of a woman. If you look closely, the white is pus and the red is blood, so in reality it is a bag of impure blood and pus.

Yes. If that is the case, then the object of attachment—a woman—if her head and tail are severed by the sword of wisdom, she will not smell good, her internal organs will be unclean, and in terms of appearance, there is brain in her head, mucus from her two nostrils, tears from her eyes, and so on, which are unclean. However, the attachment to her is not because of her essence, but because of the function of consciousness, and what is attached to is the woman's shape, color, and touch. The antidote to attachment to shape is to contemplate the woman's body as the remains left over from being eaten by wild beasts. The antidote to attachment to color is to contemplate the body as appearing red, swollen, blue, and gnawed by insects, or to contemplate the head and all limbs as being burned. The antidote to attachment to touch, as stated in the Abhidharmakośa: "For all bodies connected by bones, up to the ocean of bones, first expand and contract, from the foot bones to half the skull, it is said that purification is done by abandoning. By focusing the mind between the eyebrows, the intention is perfected." Just like this, or contemplate oneself or the body of the woman one is attached to as appearing as a skeleton, with only the fine ligaments connecting the joints, without the appearance of flesh and skin. Or, first contemplate a wound like a thumbprint on the brow of the woman one is attached to, with the bone in the middle being grayish-white and the surroundings all surrounded by pus and serum, and then gradually, all the external world and the sentient beings within are gradually eroded by the previous wound, and finally become skeletons until they reach the great ocean. Then, gradually, starting from the ocean at the end, all the external world and the sentient beings within gradually recover as before, and the woman's body recovers to half, or to half a skull of flesh and bone, and then focus the mind on the white bones from half the body to half the body. Or, contemplate one's own body as before, which is the method of the Hinayana tradition for counteracting desire. In the Mahayana Bodhisattva tradition, for all those older than oneself, generate the perception of a mother; for all those of the same age as oneself, generate the perception of a sister; for all those younger than oneself, generate the perception of a daughter. If these are summarized, it is to contemplate all beings as one's own mother. This is the practice for a beginner Bodhisattva. In the Vajrayana tradition, all women are visualized as the nature of deities and consorts, therefore, the body and
