That is the thought of desire. If one thinks that it is impossible to accomplish until samsara is empty, then there is no suffering. Shantideva said: "Merit makes the body happy, wisdom makes the mind happy, even if one remains in samsara for the sake of others, why should the compassionate be sad?" Therefore, with the accumulation of merit with appearances, temporarily obtaining a noble birth like the royal caste or the Sala tree, the Brahmin and householder castes like the Sala tree, etc., obtaining a high position with power and enjoyment, the body has no suffering, and one obtains the samadhi that transforms suffering into happiness. Through the wisdom of realizing selflessness, one knows that the three realms are free from elaboration in the ultimate sense, and in the relative sense, they are like illusions. Seeing all birth, old age, sickness, and death, there is no inherent suffering in the mind. Therefore, even if one remains in samsara for the sake of others, one does not generate the thought of sadness. The diligence of practice, until the ultimate attainment of Buddhahood, has higher and higher things to be realized. There are higher and higher things to be abandoned, so one must study the six perfections. Thus, through both thought and action, one should not be idle during the day or sleep at night, and one should not let a single moment pass without the three doors being engaged in Dharma, and one should always engage in virtue. In respectful practice, one should outwardly respect and rely on the guru, the virtuous friend, and the Dharma of his teachings, the Mahayana, and generate respect and joy in the mind of enlightenment in one's own mindstream. Practice means not separating. That is to say, when teaching the Dharma, if boredom arises, one should generate four forces: the force of respect, the force of stability, the force of joy, and the force of abandonment. Among them, one should generate the force of abandonment. Abandonment is divided into temporary abandonment and permanent abandonment. Here, it is temporary abandonment. Permanent abandonment means that the Dharma that needs to be done temporarily has been completed, such as the end of teaching the Dharma. In this case, for the guru and the disciple, the guru is like the Dharma has been completed. The disciple is not, because he still needs to practice according to what has been taught. Diligence without contentment means that one is not content with generosity, etc. Until one attains Buddhahood, there are stages of abandonment that need to be abandoned, and stages of qualities that arise. Therefore, during this time, one should generate continuous and strong diligence.

Oṃ. Fifth is the perfection of meditation. To practice meditation, one must first rely on the two isolations that are the cause and condition of meditation. What are these two? They are relying on the body being isolated from busyness and the mind being isolated from discursive thoughts. The first is the isolation of the body: abandoning all worldly affairs of this life, putting aside the big and discarding the small, completely abandoning all the affairs of this life. The isolation of the mind from discursive thoughts: abandoning all thoughts of achieving this worldly life, there is nothing to think about except Dharma, nothing to remember except Dharma, nothing to do except Dharma, nothing to practice except Dharma, that is, there is nothing to think about except the single Dharma. These two are the isolations of the common vehicle. Uncommon is that bodhisattvas are isolated from thoughts of self-desire. If one is not isolated from thoughts of self-desire, as it says in the Compendium: Just as in a mountain valley of five hundred yojanas, snakes dwell for many eons. A bodhisattva who does not understand this isolation, having gained excessive pride, dwells like a ghost. Now, to make the body isolated, one must be isolated from the busyness of the body, the discursive thoughts of the mind, etc. First, there are two: abandoning the world and abandoning discursive thoughts. First, there are two aspects to the world: attachment to external objects and attachment to internal sentient beings. First, one must remember the faults of external objects. How should one remember the faults? One must remember the faults of accumulating, guarding, and increasing, or the three faults of destruction. First, there are two ways of accumulating: Dharma and worldly ways. In worldly ways: summer robbers, winter thieves, etc., are accumulated from suffering and sin. In the Dharma way, from the time of learning the alphabet, it is said that if one knows how to read, one's own mouth can feed oneself, so the motivation is directed towards this life, and lamas and monks exchange Dharma and meat according to their abilities, thereby accomplishing worldly affairs. Then there is guarding, being a person by day and a dog by night, one must guard against enemies, thieves, wild animals, etc. Increasing is looking to see if one can become ten, ten can become a hundred, a hundred can become a thousand, etc., one must remember these sufferings. For internal sentient beings, the method of abandoning attachment, if explained extensively, is the four thoughts that turn the mind, if summarized, it is the four impermanences.
