One must practice cherishing others more than oneself. This also starts from the stage of individual ordinary beings, like the yogi of Lama Maitreya. This comes from the power of being well-trained in relative Bodhicitta. The characteristic of cherishing others more than oneself, at the same time as realizing the wisdom of the path of seeing, the meaning of the four equalities is manifested, that is, realizing that oneself and others are equal in the ultimate freedom from elaboration. Realizing that the relative is equal as mere illusion. Realizing that Buddhas and sentient beings are equal. Realizing that oneself and Buddhas are equal. At that time, one can truly begin to be able to accomplish the benefit of others. Just like cutting off a head and taking it away, one only has the perception of seeing it as earth, stone, or a clod of wood. At that time, one can practice cherishing others more than oneself. The initial practitioner must cultivate the mind in relative Bodhicitta and practice cherishing others more than oneself. The methods for cutting off self-grasping are two: skillful means and wisdom. First, one must cut off through skillful means, that is, through the three aspects of equality of self and others, exchange, and cherishing others more than oneself. First, one cuts off the thought and conceptualization of self-interest through skillful means. Then, relying on that skillful means, the wisdom that realizes the ultimate truth arises, and one cuts it off by uprooting it. For this, one must first repeatedly meditate on and ascertain relative Bodhicitta, and then mainly train in ultimate Bodhicitta. The thought of self-interest is abandoned by the former in the manner of suppressing it, and by the latter in the manner of uprooting it. Therefore, one person's lifetime practice is sufficient with this Bodhicitta, so one must know how to bring whatever happiness or suffering arises into this path. Moreover, it is impossible for a person to always be happy or always be suffering. Sometimes there is happiness, sometimes there is suffering, and the two come alternately. So if happiness and suffering arise, they become the nature of the Bodhi path, and if they do not become obstacles to the path of suffering, then one is a Bodhisattva skilled in skillful means. Therefore, if a Bodhisattva feels happiness, he should not be attached to it. If faith, renunciation, and precious Bodhicitta, which are the causes of happiness, arise in one's mindstream, one must not cling to them and remain there. Also, if I get angry and say bad words, then before saying them, give them to sentient beings.
