The subject of Dharma, the great Madhyamaka, is the training in wisdom. All mantra empowerments and vows are for subduing. Its teaching is the order of vows, which is the training in discipline. The Dharma of the four or six tantras is the Sutra Pitaka. Its teaching is the common generation and completion stages, which is the training in samadhi. The tantras of Dzogchen are the innate Dharma. Its teaching is Kadak Trekchö (primordial purity, cutting through) and Lhündrub Tögal (spontaneous presence, direct crossing), which is the ultimate training in wisdom. In short, all aspects of the expressing words are the Dharma of scripture, and all aspects of the expressed meaning are the Dharma of realization. As for qualities, "The qualities of Dharma are inconceivable." Therefore, eliminating all the declines of samsara and nirvana, and bringing about all the perfections of samsara and nirvana, are the qualities of the sacred Dharma. Regarding the Sangha, there are three aspects: essence, divisions, and qualities. The essence is that which possesses the two qualities of knowledge and liberation, which is the essence of the Sangha. Among them, seeing, reasoning, and realization are the same in meaning, but different in name. The Shravakas and Pratyekabuddhas see the nature of the four truths in sequence and are liberated from whatever needs to be abandoned. Bodhisattvas see the truth through the Dharma nature of the path of seeing and realize it, thereby being liberated from whatever needs to be abandoned. From then on, until the final stage of the ten bhumis, they are Sangha members who are liberated from whatever afflictions, knowledge, and habitual tendencies need to be abandoned. In terms of divisions, there are the Sangha of the Hinayana Shravakas and Pratyekabuddhas, and the Sangha of the Mahayana Aryas. The former is the common Sangha, including the three: Shravakas, Pratyekabuddhas, and Bodhisattvas. The latter is the uncommon Sangha, which is the Sangha within the Vidyadharas. The former is further divided into the Sangha of ordinary beings and the Sangha of Aryas. The essence of ordinary beings is that they are motivated by the thought of renunciation, receive one of the eight types of Pratimoksha vows, maintain pure discipline, practice samadhi, generate wisdom, and remain on the paths of accumulation and preparation until they see the truth. Aryas are those who, based on the four truths, see the truth in the form of the sixteen aspects such as impermanence, and enter that path, which is the Stream-enterer. Those who have not abandoned all nine levels of desire realm afflictions and need to take birth once in the desire realm are Once-returners. Having abandoned all remaining desire realm afflictions, they therefore do not return to the desire realm.

Because there is no need to take rebirth again, one is a Non-Returner. An Arhat is one who has conquered all the enemies of afflictions in the three realms. There are two types of Arhats: with remainder and without remainder. A Pratyekabuddha, when first training on the path, accumulates merit for a hundred great kalpas like a Shravaka. In their last existence, they make four vows: to be born in an empty land where no Buddha has appeared, to attain enlightenment on their own without relying on a teacher, not to teach the Dharma with words, and to generate merit for sentient beings through bodily manifestations. Therefore, they are born in a land without Buddhas or Shravakas, slightly adorned with marks and signs, disliking household life and preferring solitude. From the clothes in the charnel ground, they know with innate wisdom, cut, and sew three Dharma robes. Looking at the bones in the charnel ground, they think, 'Where did these bones come from?' They know they came from birth. 'Where did birth come from?' They know it came from existence, and so on. In the manner of dependent origination in forward and reverse order, they know it came from ignorance. From ignorance arises action, from action arises consciousness, and so on, until old age and death, which is forward origination. 'From where does old age and death cease?' 'It ceases from the cessation of birth,' and so on. The order of cessation is reverse. 'With the cessation of ignorance, action ceases,' and so on. The order of cessation is forward, until the cessation of old age and death. After thoroughly examining all of this, they see the nature of dependent origination in forward and reverse order, and become Stream-Enterers, similar to Shravakas, relying on the fourth dhyana. Among them, those with sharp faculties who do not need to rely on friends live alone like rhinoceroses, while those with dull faculties who need to rely on friends live together in flocks like parrots. There are two types of Arhats: with remainder and without remainder. In the Sangha of Bodhisattvas, there are also two types: ordinary beings and noble beings. The first is that all sentient beings wish to attain the state of Buddhahood. Therefore, after generating the supreme Bodhicitta, they take either of the two Bodhisattva vows. By purifying the discipline of their own tradition, they tame their minds and train in the doors of completion, maturation, and purification encompassed by the six perfections. Those who reside on the paths of accumulation, application, and the stage of aspiring conduct are ordinary beings, and those who directly see the truth of the Dharma nature on the path of seeing.
