It shows the two aspects of subduing with great compassion and suppressing with great wisdom. As it is said, does it mean that all the actions of the profound Chöd practice, including the preliminary, main, and subsequent practices, are included? Or does it indicate the order of vows? "Blessed Sugata" indicates all the ripening empowerments of the profound Chöd. However, these must be heard from the mouth of a lama who has the lineage of the profound Chöd. Here, only the visualization sequence of the body offering is mentioned, and a little explanation of its meaning is given. The four demons to be cut are: According to the Hetu-vidya Vehicle, the demon of the aggregates is what causes death; the demon of afflictions is what causes death; the nature of death itself is the demon of the Lord of Death; and the demon of the son of the gods is what obstructs the attainment of the immortal and peaceful state. The term "demon" does not refer to something with bared teeth and glaring eyes, but rather to what generates all the suffering of samsara and obstructs the attainment of liberation and nirvana. In short, it is what harms or injures the body and mind. So, where does all the suffering of samsara come from? If there were no inner five aggregates, there would be no place, basis, container, or support for all suffering. However, once these aggregates are formed, they become the source, basis, container, and support for all suffering, hence the demon of the aggregates. There are eighty-four thousand afflictions, which can be summarized as the five poisons and the three poisons. These can be further summarized into the aggregate of inappropriate attention, which includes viewing purity, pleasure, self, and permanence. From inappropriate attention, that is, the ego-grasping, afflictions arise, that is, the thoughts of attachment, aversion, and delusion. These afflictions then drive people to accumulate non-virtuous karma, and due to the power of karma, they are involuntarily subjected to birth and death in this samsara. Therefore, the demon of afflictions is what causes death. The nature of death itself is the demon of the Lord of Death. Roughly speaking, if there is birth, then there is inevitably the law of death, and sentient beings die involuntarily, thus experiencing suffering and harm. Subtly speaking, the impermanence of dharma, changing from moment to moment, the nature of impermanence is the characteristic of suffering, hence it is called the demon of the Lord of Death. What obstructs the attainment of the immortal and peaceful state is the distracting demon of the son of the gods.

Know that what obstructs the path to liberation and omniscience is the discriminating thoughts that distract the mind towards external objects. Like the body and its shadow, according to the law of causality, there are black evil demons and their retinues. According to the tantric teachings, the demon called "Mara Delightful Lord of Power," although a deity of the form realm, is attached to the objects of desire, and thus exists in the Tushita Heaven (realm of delight) in the form of monasteries within cities. According to the tantric teachings, the identification of the four maras is: the mara with obstacles and the mara without obstacles, the mara of joy and the mara of pride, and all of these are included in the mara of pride. As it is said, the mara with obstacles is: external material objects and the harm from sentient beings, such as fire, water, cliffs, and lightning strikes, as well as vicious sentient beings, such as enemies and robbers, poisonous snakes and wild animals, and the fear of flesh-eating rakshasas, which cause harm to body and mind. The mara without obstacles is the inner afflictions, such as desire, hatred, and ignorance, the eighty-four thousand afflictions, which bring all the suffering of samsara. The mara of joy is when one goes to solitary places and mountains, thinking: "My guru is different from other gurus, my instructions are different from other instructions, my practice is different from other practices, my vajra brothers and sisters are more superior than others," and thus feeling joyful and excited. In short, clinging to and being attached to the slight warmth and power of inner samadhi is the mara of joy. The mara of pride is: the root of all the aforementioned maras, it is the inner clinging to self and the attachment of pride, it is the discriminating thought that clings to the five aggregates as self and mine. If this is cut off, then all external maras will be cut off naturally without needing to be cut off. For example, if the root of a tree is cut, then all the branches and leaves will naturally fall. Therefore, the root of the four maras mentioned above lies in and gathers in the inner clinging to self and the mara of pride, and therefore, this is what must be cut off. There are two methods for cutting it off: cutting it off with skillful means and cutting it off with wisdom. The skillful means and wisdom of the Shravakas and Pratyekabuddhas are limited, and although they can destroy the gross maras and attain the state of liberation, the subtle habitual tendencies of ignorance
