"It is not me, I am not its teacher," he said. Therefore, the four root vows of a novice monk, including the five with alcohol, are vowed not to be broken even at the cost of one's life. The thirty detailed minor offenses of the branches are vowed not to be committed. The four root vows of a fully ordained monk are vowed. The remaining thirteen are vowed. The thirty expiatory offenses are vowed. The ninety offenses are vowed. The four confessions are vowed. For the one hundred and twelve offenses, there are one hundred and twelve minds of abandonment. According to the profound view and practice of a Bodhisattva, the twenty root downfalls are vowed with twenty minds of abandonment. The eighty branch offenses are vowed with eighty minds of abandonment. The four roots of the vast conduct are vowed with four minds of abandonment. The forty-six offenses are vowed with forty-six minds of abandonment. The essence of both is the aspiring and engaging Bodhicitta, so even if my head is cut off, it is fine. I will never abandon sentient beings, these are the two hooks of such a vow. If the six perfections of engaging Bodhicitta are not protected, I will surely die, these are the two hooks of such a vow. If the six opposing factors are not abandoned, I will surely die, these are the two hooks of such a vow. The vows of Vajrayana, the five root downfalls of Maha, are vowed with five minds of abandonment. The ten branches are vowed with ten minds of abandonment. The three root vows of body, speech, and mind of Anu Yoga are vowed. The twenty-five branches are vowed with twenty-five minds of abandonment. The twenty-seven vows of the Great Perfection that need to be protected gradually, the root lama's body, speech, and mind are divided into twenty-seven, and twenty-seven minds of abandonment are vowed. The twenty-five branch vows are vowed with twenty-five minds of abandonment. The four vows of sudden entry that do not need to be protected are vowed with four minds of abandonment. Thus, the vows to be protected, the person who protects, and the benefits of protecting, after drawing the definite understanding that these three appearances are without inherent existence. Stopping misconduct during session breaks, etc. First, according to one's own Bodhisattva tradition, there are the two vows of individual liberation and Bodhisattva. Individual liberation can be included upwards, but mantra does not need to be included downwards. A person who has obtained the three vows must stop all misconduct of the three, Hearer, Bodhisattva, and Mantra. If we gather them back, abandoning what is based on harming others is individual liberation. Accomplishing what is based on benefiting others is Bodhisattva. Knowing the three doors as the nature of the three vajras is Man

It is the precept of abstaining from evil. Therefore, from the aspect of body, it is beating; from the aspect of speech, it is harsh words; from the aspect of mind, it is harmful thoughts, and so on. In short, abandoning even the slightest harmful actions of body, speech, and mind is the precept of abstaining from evil. The essence of accumulating virtuous dharmas, even if it is learning the six perfections, for a beginner, striving for even the slightest virtue with body, speech, and mind is accumulating virtuous dharmas. Upon seeing images of the Buddha, stupas, etc., removing one's hat, etc.; one prostration of the body, etc.; confession of downfalls in speech, etc.; a moment of mind, etc.; all striving for virtuous actions is the discipline of accumulating virtuous dharmas. Benefiting sentient beings refers to, when seeing the truth of suchness on the path of seeing, gathering disciples with the four means of gathering and placing sentient beings on the path to maturation and liberation. If all of that is placed on one louse: First, holding one louse, thinking, 'Now, for the sake of all sentient beings equal to the extent of space attaining the state of Buddhahood, I will not kill this louse,' that is the precept of abstaining from evil. Not killing it and saving its life is the precept of benefiting sentient beings. Dedicating that merit to the benefit of others is the precept of accumulating virtuous dharmas. In short, abandoning the ten non-virtuous actions to the best of one's ability, accomplishing the benefits along with their basis, and knowing that the three doors are included within the three vajras. In all post-meditation states, abandoning even one non-virtuous action of body, speech, and mind, and accomplishing even one virtuous action. All of that is grasped by the three supremes, and generating the definite understanding that appearances are without inherent existence. The essence of patience is not being disturbed. Being disturbed is placed on the mental event of thinking. Anger is the appearance of expressions in body and speech. In worldly speech, it is said, 'Accumulating the collections of a thousand eons, one moment of anger destroys it.' As it says in the Bodhisattvacharyavatara, 'The merit accumulated over a thousand eons, etc., what destroys it? Anger destroys it.' What is destroyed is the root of virtue that is a part of merit. The root of virtue endowed with the three supremes is said not to be destroyed. Worldly roots of virtue, even getting angry at pebbles is said to destroy it. The roots of virtue of the Lesser Vehicle that are a part of liberation, if Shravakas and Pratyekabuddhas are angry with each other, the root of virtue is destroyed, but if one is angry with an ordinary person, it is not destroyed.
