The one who accomplishes the purpose and the child who pursues self-interest, look at the difference between these two. As it says, the Thubpa (Shakyamuni Buddha) Bhagavan, the fully enlightened Buddha, attained the state of perfect enlightenment by striving for the benefit of others. Children, from beginningless time, have been pursuing their own desires, saying "I." If they continue to pursue their own desires, saying "I," they will wander in samsara without end. Therefore, all the happiness and well-being of both existence and peace are the benefits of the altruistic Bodhicitta. As Chandrakirti said: "The Hearers, the Middle Buddhas, and all the Buddhas are born from the Thubwang (Shakyamuni Buddha)." The subtle and gross sufferings of this life and the next, that is, all the sufferings of the three realms of samsara, are rooted in this thought and action of pursuing one's own desires. Therefore, this self-interest should be labeled as a demon. If the milk of a single cow is not palatable, it is labeled as a demon. Similarly, this thought of clinging to self-interest prevents the qualities of the temporary state of the Bodhisattva, the son of the king, and the qualities of the ultimate fruit of omniscience from arising in one's own mindstream. This is the demon. To expel this demon, the Bodhicitta is named the ritual of expelling and subduing the demon. How should it be subdued? By training the mind in equality of self and others, exchange, and cherishing others, the Bodhicitta will not decline, and the demon of pursuing self-interest can be expelled. First, when meditating on the equality of self and others, from beginningless time, due to not treating self and others equally, we are attached to ourselves and our side, and we hate enemies and their side. Now, we must abandon attachment to ourselves and our side, and abandon hatred towards others and their side. The root of both of these is in the thought and action of pursuing self-interest. Therefore, knowing its faults, we should not act as before, but should unite self and others as one. How should we unite them? All sentient beings pervading the sky are my mothers, and I am their child. We have only one child for one mother, so we, mother and child, share happiness and suffering. If we think like this, the thought of pursuing self-interest will disappear and become peaceful. All sentient beings are our family. We both are equal in wanting happiness and not wanting suffering. With great love, thinking of accomplishing the happiness of myself and all sentient beings together, it is done through thought.

If so, then accomplish happiness together. In terms of action, it is necessary to accomplish happiness together. Because all sentient beings desire happiness, but they do not know how to accomplish the virtuous deeds and the correct path that are the cause of happiness. There is no virtuous friend who teaches properly and truthfully. Even if there is, they do not act according to his instructions. I have met a virtuous friend, I have encountered the Dharma of the Great Vehicle. In order to become a practitioner who practices with the Lama virtuous friend and virtuous friends who know the essentials of what to adopt and abandon, I must accomplish the happiness of all sentient beings. For this, may the result of happiness for all sentient beings, from the high status of gods and humans to the happiness of complete and perfect Buddhahood, and its cause—faith, renunciation, the precious mind of Bodhicitta, that is, may both the cause and effect of happiness be complete. If it is complete, how wonderful! Generate the thought that I must make it complete, associated with aspiration, associated with intention, associated with vows, and pray to the Three Jewels, cultivate these four. That is, first, focus on the result of happiness, such as high status, etc., and make prayers with three associations. Then, focus on its cause, such as faith, etc., and make prayers with three associations, and so on. From today onwards, it is necessary to benefit beings equally in both thought and action. In terms of thought, it is to accomplish the state of Buddhahood together; in terms of action, it is also to think of accomplishing the state of Buddhahood together. Moreover, it is also necessary to eliminate suffering together. Just like this, sentient beings are as vast as the sky is vast; suffering from karma and appearances is as vast as sentient beings are vast. There are no sentient beings tormented by the suffering of karma and appearances who have not been parents, etc., from beginningless time. Among them, from the perspective of closeness, there is not one who has not been a mother. Not just once a mother, but countless times a mother, even if this great earth were rolled up into the size of a mustard seed, it would be used up, but the end of each sentient being not having been a mother would not be exhausted, and they have always been raised with kindness. Then, it is necessary to remember the kindness of not having been a mother: first, the kindness of giving a body; second, the kindness of giving life; third, the kindness of providing resources; fourth, the kindness of showing the world, remember these four kinds of kindness. Then, generate the thought of wanting to repay kindness,
