Clearly visualize your mother in front of you. First, recognize that your mother has shown kindness not just once, but many times, such as the kindness of giving you your body and life, and providing necessities and enduring hardships. The loving mother toiled day and night, raising us diligently. She taught us about the world, taught us to speak, taught us to walk, taught us to eat, and taught us to dress. From childhood to adolescence, and then to adulthood, she continued to teach us until we understood things. Remember the kindness she has shown. In terms of Dharma, remember the precious human rebirth, etc. Generate the desire to repay her kindness. So, what does this loving mother want? She wants happiness, but she doesn't know how to cultivate the causes of happiness—faith, renunciation, and bodhicitta. She has no guide—a virtuous friend. Even if there is a guide, she will not practice according to the teachings. As it says in the Bodhisattvacaryāvatāra: "Although beings long for happiness, yet through ignorance they destroy it, as if it were an enemy robbing them of joy." Like this, she destroys the cause of happiness—virtuous deeds, seeing them as enemies. She doesn't want suffering, but she indulges in the causes of suffering—non-virtuous deeds. As it says: "Although beings seek to escape suffering, they rush headlong into its causes." Therefore, she doesn't want any of the suffering of samsara in the three realms, not even small sufferings like being burned by a tiny spark or being pricked by a thorn. However, she commits non-virtuous deeds with her body, speaks non-virtuous words with her speech, and thinks non-virtuous thoughts with her mind. Thus, her wishes and actions are contrary to each other. She is directly harmed by the truth of suffering and indirectly harmed by the truth of the origin of suffering. The suffering of this life sees her off, the suffering of the next life welcomes her, and the suffering of the bardo connects them. Not only does she suffer this cause-and-effect suffering, but for the sake of my own benefit, she will fight with people, argue with dogs, and even kill a single louse, the karmic result of which will cause her to wander endlessly in the hells. She does not understand the faults of non-virtuous deeds, the cause of suffering, nor does she understand the benefits of virtuous deeds. Day and night, she continuously suffers.

This kind mother living in Ramo Yuk (place name) is the object or target of compassion, thinking, "How pitiful!" May she be free from the suffering of karmic results, free from the suffering of the three realms of existence in samsara. How wonderful if she could be free! I wish to free her. I pray to you, the infallible refuge, the precious Three Jewels, with your compassion and power, may it not diminish her freedom from suffering. May she be free from the cause of suffering, free from all karma and afflictions. How wonderful if she could be free! I wish to free her. I pray to the Three Jewels. In this way, alternately engage in analytical and stabilizing meditation. Then, gradually meditate on the father and sisters, etc., paternal relatives, brothers, etc. Finally, eliminating the three sufferings of all sentient beings pervading the sky: the suffering of the three lower realms, the suffering of change in the heavenly and human realms, and the suffering of pervasive conditioning in the upper two realms. Especially for humans, the fear of encountering enemies, the fear of separation from loved ones, the suffering of unfulfilled desires, the suffering of unwanted events befalling them, the suffering of birth, old age, sickness, and death, etc., chased by the suffering of this life, greeted by the suffering of the next life, connected by the suffering of the bardo, may such suffering be separated from both cause and effect. How wonderful if they could be separated! I wish to separate them. Pray in this way. For such three circles, generate the definite understanding that appearances are without inherent existence. During breaks between sessions, meditate on all sentient beings seen. Joy is also primarily for one's own mother, remembering the kindness of the mother, wanting to repay the kindness, cultivating loving-kindness wishing her to have happiness, and compassion wishing her to be free from suffering. Then, for one's own elderly mother, having a little food, clothing, shelter, bedding, wealth and possessions, power and dominion, glory and prosperity, lineage and fame, comfort and happiness, etc., this is the target or object. Observing this state or mind, feeling joy, feeling that it is necessary, feeling that it is indispensable, thus cultivating joy. May the fruit of happiness of the elderly mother, and its cause—a little bit of virtuous karma—not decline or diminish, but increase more and more, and may she not be separated from the cause of happiness—virtuous karma—and the fruit of happiness.
