Initially, the vow-holding yogi, endowed with power, understanding, and realization, possessing warmth, having received empowerment, or the yogi who embodies the true meaning of Dharma, the great sovereign, the one who recognizes signs, in a secluded place such as a southern rock or a place of practice, a charnel ground, a solitary and delightful location, guided by a virtuous and auspicious friend, a brave, steadfast, powerful companion, should demonstrate the mandala practice ritual on the charnel ground. The substances for practice and offering are arranged in the manner of Yama. On the cloth of the charnel ground, a skilled artist should draw the image of the pattern on the ground, using excellent, non-adhesive paints, depicting the five principal deities of Wrathful Manjushri, with bodies the color of dark clouds. The artist should paint the Yamantaka parents and their retinue. Perform the complete consecration ritual in a way that allows one to see the face of Manjushri. First, accumulate merit, both outer and inner. The ten mantra syllables and the seven syllables beginning with 'A,' spoken by the Wrathful One himself, should be recited to complete one hundred and eleven million and one hundred and ten thousand times. At that time, signs will appear on the body, blazing, a mass of light indicating accomplishment, a swirling body, and the sound of prophetic speech. Dreams, experiences, and appearances in dreams, many signs will occur. When the superior, intermediate, and inferior signs appear firmly, perform the ritual of attaining accomplishment relying on reddish-yellow milk or butter. If the signs do not manifest, it is because the previous vows have been broken, so confess and repeat the practice. The one who holds the vows should practice asceticism. Abiding in the yoga of silence, not wandering in the charnel ground, facing the southern direction of the painting, sitting on a cushion of kusha grass, gazing at the painting, recite the mantra in the order of the syllables. If the mind becomes dull and sinks into a state of torpor, and the samadhi is not clear, and awareness becomes clouded, then invoke the lineage of Manjushri, offer praise and supplication. If the practitioner becomes weary and desires to leave, or if the mind becomes distracted, then bend the head like a peacock, contemplate the form of the deity. Until the mind does not become weary, recite with single-pointed concentration. This demonstrates the conduct or daily yoga.
