Ah! Suffering What kind of suffering can express it? So it is said. Animals, due to the power of ignorance and darkness, the large ones eat many small ones at times, and the small ones peck at the bodies of the large ones with their beaks and constantly eat. Those born in dark places cannot see their own bodies and eat their own flesh. The scattered suffering of animals is also inconceivable. As it was said before: Animals, foolish and ignorant, eat each other, In dark places, without freedom, The unbearable suffering of being constantly driven by the executioner. The gods suffer from falling under death and change, long-term omens of death, short-term omens of death, and cannot bear even one-sixteenth of the suffering of hell. As it was said before: The happiness of the gods is like a dream of yesterday, When life is exhausted and humans die, Eight times the suffering is experienced at that time, Having passed from the heavens, they fall into the three lower realms. So it is said. Asuras, due to the power of jealousy, the suffering of fighting and arguing with the gods is immeasurable. As it was said before: Asuras fight with the gods and are always defeated, Inside, family members are divided and constantly fight, Dying and being reborn repeatedly, the suffering is unbearable. So it is said. For us humans, too, as we are experiencing now, there is the suffering of birth, old age, sickness, and death, the suffering of meeting enemies or fearing to meet them, the suffering of being separated from loved ones or fearing to be separated from them, the suffering of not being able to support and protect what we have, the suffering of being hungry and poor because we cannot find what we seek, the great have mental suffering, the lowly have physical suffering, etc. If we look with our eyes and think with our minds about the suffering of change, etc., it will be clear. Again, as it was said before: In the human realm, birth, old age, sickness, and death, Are endowed with four unbearable sufferings, Accumulated wealth is exhausted, and those born must die, Prosperity ends in decline, and happiness ends in sorrow, Not finding food and wealth, distressed and poor, alas! In suffering, life is wasted meaninglessly. So it is said. Furthermore, the scriptures say: All sentient beings, self and others, Are distracted by endless worldly affairs, Wasting their lives in laziness and indifference, Are they not afraid of the six realms of samsara? So it is.
