Hope is destroyed in the mind, harmful thoughts bestow fear, and wrong views increase bad views. Thus it is said. The result of acting in accordance with the cause is that whatever non-virtuous deeds one has become accustomed to in the past, one still desires to do them now. The dominant result is: the place of killing has little splendor; taking what is not given causes hail to rise; sexual misconduct causes dust to accumulate; lying causes unclean stench; divisive speech causes the land to be uneven; harsh speech causes saltiness; idle talk causes time to change; greed causes small fruits; harmful thoughts cause bitter fruits; wrong views cause small or no fruits. Thus it is said. In the Bodhicharyavatara it says: Suffering arises from non-virtue, how can one be certain to be liberated from this? Day and night I should only think about this. As it is said, one should think about it again and again. The opposite of this is the ten virtues, the ripening result causes rebirth in the three higher realms. The result of acting in accordance with the cause is: abandoning killing causes long life; abandoning taking what is not given causes great enjoyment; abandoning sexual misconduct causes no enemies; abandoning lying causes freedom from slander; abandoning divisive speech causes friendship with friends; abandoning harsh speech causes hearing pleasant sounds; abandoning idle talk causes dignified speech; abandoning greed causes wishes to be fulfilled; abandoning harmful thoughts causes fearlessness, endowed with happiness; abandoning wrong views causes obtaining good views. The dominant result is also: the land is splendid, the crops flourish; there is no dust, no stench, no unevenness; there is no saltiness, the seasons are harmonious; the fruits are large and sweet, and there are many. Thus it is said. Therefore, doing good brings happiness, doing evil brings suffering, and mixing good and evil brings a mixture of happiness and suffering, one should know the way to experience the respective karmas of projecting and completing. Whether it is good or evil, one should carefully remember in mind, such as the karma to be experienced in the next life, and the karma to be experienced in other times, and if it is controlled by the antidote, it is not certain to be experienced, etc. When thinking about this unfailing result of karma, apart from abandoning evil doing good, it is not right to mix good and evil, is it not good to carefully weigh the result of karma? Thus contemplate its meaning, and recite and meditate on the fourth object of focus. The fifth is the faults of samsara, Guru Padmasambhava said: Meaningless

Do not create the root of suffering in karma, which will become a treasure of happiness in this life and the next. Negative karma leads to rebirth in the three lower realms, while the practice of virtuous deeds brings about rebirth in the three higher realms. As it is said in the scriptures, there is no true happiness anywhere until Buddhahood is attained. Even in the six realms of samsara, no matter where one is born, ultimate happiness cannot be obtained. Hell, hungry ghosts, animals, as well as humans, asuras, and gods, these six realms are the places of the three realms of samsara, and wherever one is born, there is only suffering. As it is said in the scriptures. Among them, the suffering of the three lower realms is even more unbearable. In particular, the suffering of hell is unimaginable. In the hot hells, Yama's messengers are extremely terrifying. They drive and knock down the beings of hell on the red-hot iron ground, and use various burning weapons to cut their bodies into hundreds of thousands of pieces, roasting and burning them like the flames of the end of the kalpa, experiencing uninterrupted suffering. In the cold hells, located in the midst of snow mountains, on the cold and vast plains, snowstorms are raging, and the cold is biting, so that even the starlight cannot be seen. Not to mention warming houses, sunlight, clothes, etc. There is not even a small pit on the ground, and the power of the cold causes blisters to appear on the body, the blisters rupture, and the body splits into hundreds of thousands of pieces. Before the negative karma is exhausted, one must continue to experience suffering. As it is said in the Supreme Treasure Padma Garwang Dharma Practice Lamrim: The suffering of hell, hot and cold, is unbearable, and the lifespan is long, requiring countless kalpas. Now this body is put into the fire pit, and hundreds of thousands of executioners surround it. The sufferings of hell cannot be described in words. Can you endure such suffering? So it is said. The beings of the hungry ghost realm, whether they have external obstacles, internal obstacles, or food and drink obstacles, suffer unbearable hunger and thirst. As the previous scripture says: The suffering of hungry ghosts' hunger and thirst is unimaginable. For countless kalpas, food and drink cannot be obtained, and even a drop of water cannot be seen. Pitiful cries resound for thousands of kalpas, and even one day's food and drink cannot be obtained.
