When practicing Chö, one gives away one's body and life without regard for oneself, for the benefit of those who harm, and without separating from the mind of compassion. This is the view of the Chö practitioners regarding the two types of deities and demons. The two types of deities and demons, namely, the essence and the location, even though they are merely nominal designations in conventional truth, they exist as they are in ultimate reality. That is merely an appearance, so do not cling to it as real, but understand the ultimate truth of selflessness. Third, the deities and demons of perceived imputation are: worldly earth deities, healers, monks, nuns, etc., who slightly favor the white side, By stirring up the consciousness of ordinary men and women, they cause worldly people to speak of all good and bad, and also at inappropriate times, flowers blooming in winter, newly grown crops just sprouting, etc., seeing various different things, and most non-humans showing their forms and making many prophecies, and also seeing rainbows and images of deities, etc., they say of these, "It is accomplishment, it is blessing, it is a deity, it is auspicious," and impute them. These are called deities of perceived imputation. Similarly, at inappropriate times, seeing various frightening images such as snakes and frogs in winter, and also otters and giant birds eating many creatures in summer, seeing fish fighting in dry places, and also In the realm of eye consciousness, feeling fear and dread towards unpleasant images, etc., seeing many different things that cause discomfort, these are called demons, and because they bring harm, they are imputed as demons, so they are called demons of perceived imputation. This is the worldly people's definite clinging to deities and demons. However, Chö practitioners do not consider mere appearances as deities and demons, and in reality, they do not call mere appearances deities and demons. The deities and demons of appearance are merely imputations by worldly people. Therefore, Chö practitioners do not generate attachment or clinging, but abide in great equanimity, unable to cause benefit or harm, and are liberated in their own nature. If Chö practitioners do not understand this way, they will generate distinctions of deities and demons based solely on appearances.
