Thus, if you have experience, You will conquer all the demons. Whatever you like and desire, If it is not grasped by aimlessness, Then the Paramita is meaningless, You will be controlled by the demons. Therefore, we ourselves are demons, When you yourself are peaceful, the demons are also peaceful. When you yourself exist, the demons also exist. If you yourself have no self-nature, Then the demons will not exist either. Through the nature of causelessness, If you conquer your own clinging, You will conquer all the demons, And transcend samsara and nirvana. Joy and desire subside in the unborn self-nature. Do you understand this, son of lineage? What is called "the conceited one," Everything inside and outside is self-conceit. Gods and demons, etc., That is also your own conceit. Cutting off the root of conceit, Is the unsurpassed Bodhi. It is not stopping thoughts, But saying that everything is just conceit. Just conceit cannot be bound by Dharma. Son of lineage, if you understand this, You will conquer all the demons, Abide in the state of fearlessness, Abide in the state of non-contention. This is Arya Deva's Indian treatise. The sacred Indian treatise. The "Collection of Teachings," "Chapters," and many other scriptures speak of the classification of demons that are inseparable from abandonment and intimacy, But there is none that is not included in this root. Furthermore, as stated in the "Tantra of the Little Son," there are sixteen demons of the outer, inner, secret, and path levels, four each. And in the "Collection of Essence," it is said to be eighteen. First are: the son of the gods demon, the affliction demon, the aggregate demon, and the death demon, these are the four outer demons. First, the son of the gods demon is: clinging and attachment to what one likes, know that that is the demon, cut off the attachment, dispel the clinging, find the faults, and uproot them from the source, then one will be liberated. The affliction demon is: when the five poisons arise, let them develop and follow them, therefore, one must forcibly cut them off, and in the state of unspeakable, inconceivable awareness, maintain a state of joy, clarity, and alertness, then one will be liberated. The aggregate demon is: The five aggregates enter the five objects, and follow the feelings that arise, therefore, one must determine that appearances are illusions of the mind, determine that the mind is empty, determine that emptiness is non-dual, and in awareness maintain a state of empty clarity, alertness, and vigilance, then one will be liberated. The death demon is: the mind does not arise

Now, because of not realizing, there is fear of birth and death. Therefore, all phenomena of appearance and sound are determined as unborn, and confidence is placed in immortality. The four inner demons are: attachment to loving relatives and hatred towards enemies; reliance on gods and suspicion of ghosts; clinging to and attachment to one's own body and possessions; being bound by good thoughts and not generating excellent qualities, and so on. Therefore, know that the mind of dualistic grasping, such as enemies, relatives, gods, and ghosts, is a demon. One should realize the equality of all phenomena and leave awareness wide open. Do not cherish or cling to the body and possessions too much, do not cling to permanence, do not cling to self-importance, do not cling to goodness. Know that arrogance of "I" and so on are all demons. As above, abide in the state of vast awareness. The four secret demons are: obstruction and non-obstruction, joy and sorrow, pride and conceit, that is: cut off the attachment to obstructed objects, cut off the attachment to unobstructed mind, cut off the attachment to joy and sorrow, cut off the attachment to pride and conceit. And, the four demons that obstruct the stages and paths are: the demon of view is bias, the demon of meditation is agitation and dullness, the demon of conduct is hypocrisy, the demon of result is hope and doubt. If one makes dualistic grasping, no matter how much effort one makes, it is impossible to be liberated from samsara. Therefore, meditation itself is a demon. The previous thought has ceased, the next thought has not arisen, the naked moment of present awareness, unpolluted by any experience or conceptualization, is the Dharmakaya, is the view, is the meditation, the conduct and the result are also it. Therefore, know it and abide in its state, without any complacency. Do not gather the mind inward, do not scatter it outward, do not examine it in between, let awareness abide nakedly. Let go of all efforts of meditation and practice, and do not let the knowledge of "suchness" fall on conditions, but rather have the power of awareness. Just as lighting a lamp in a dark room, all demons naturally subside, naturally liberate, naturally purify, naturally awaken in their own place, and bring all phenomena to an end. The second is, there are two types: root and branch, of which the first has four: the demon of the aggregates, the demon of the gods, the demon of the afflictions, and the demon of the Lord of Death. The first is, from one's own cause, the contaminated aggregates of grasping that arise from the power of afflictions. The second is, if it is the Paranirmita-vasavartin, it is called the Son of the Gods, Delightful Power.
