This is the Lord of Desire Realm, who binds the garlands of flowers of distracting good clinging to the crowns of practitioners. The third is the five poisons of affliction. The fourth is the parts where the power of life is cut off involuntarily. Secondly, there are eighteen branch demons. First, the demon of manifest clinging to the attainment of enlightenment. The demon of miraculous powers that cause obstacles. The demon of tangible objects. The demon of intangible mind. The demon of distracting qualities. The demon of pride in experience. The demon of confusing awareness. The demon of subtle aspects of conceptualization. The demon of arrogance and pride. The demon of jealousy and envy of others. The demon of sinking and excitement of knowledge. The demon of indifference and laziness. The demon of anger and hatred. The demon of desire and wrong livelihood. The demon of mental wandering. The demon of weariness and oppression. The demon of great anger and stubbornness. The demon of changing color, and eighteen others. Among them, those with superior faculties, no matter what demon arises, remain in a state of non-conceptual equality without fear or apprehension. Those with intermediate faculties seek the knower and know the demon as their own mind. They remain in a state of knowing that their own mind is inherently unborn. Those with inferior faculties give their body and mind to the harmful obstacles, and their mind remains in a state of unconsciousness, without any intention. Thus, the method of identifying what to abandon and what to rely on is briefly indicated, and this is explained in detail. Machig summarized these demons into four categories and said that the so-called demon is not a large, black, terrifying, or frightening thing that is seen. The so-called demon is anything that hinders the attainment of liberation, that is the demon. Therefore, loving and compassionate relatives and friends can also turn into demons of liberation. In particular, there is no greater demon than this self-grasping, and unless this self-grasping is cut off, all demons arise from it. Therefore, one must be very diligent in the method of cutting off the demon of self-grasping. At the same time, one must also cut off the three demons that arise from self-grasping. Therefore, there are four demons. If they are named, they are the demon of obstruction and the demon of non-obstruction, the demon of joy and the demon of pride, and the demon of self-grasping. Among them, the so-called demon of obstruction is the form seen by the eye.
