Thus, this was spontaneously written by a humble one called Karma Palden Khyentse Özer (Karmapa, Glorious, Wise and Loving Rays of Light), who holds the diadem of the name of the Gentle Protector, King of Dharma. Supreme Buddha, the first lord encompassing all lineages! May the glorious lama never be separated from the heart center and be revered. I, the humble one, a form of Dharma and the third of perceptions, who strives to reach the edge of the retinue of that supreme king, was affectionately taken as the lord of the lineage by the golden-eyed bumblebee. This is the power of past prayers, ah ma! It is not effort, but spontaneous accomplishment, a wondrous interdependence. Taking his excellent words as the ornament on the crown of my head, I offer this little song of realizing the meaning of the mind as a delightful offering to please the noble ones. First, from within my heart arose the thought that impermanence, suffering, and conditioned phenomena are without essence. In the middle, having entered the true path, I understood that samsara should be abandoned and nirvana should be embraced. Now, I have found a confidence in the equality of samsara and nirvana. All phenomena are the play of the wisdom dharmakaya. The boundary between awareness and unawareness is but a moment. The root of all delusion and liberation is one's own mind. The present awareness is without abandonment, transformation, or fabrication. Naturally and spontaneously abiding, empty and clear without obstruction. All outer appearances are empty of the mind that grasps inwardly. Appearance and emptiness are free from the division of duality. The union is beyond words and beyond the mind. The meaning of reality, described by hundreds of names free from extremes, is to be cultivated by hundreds of methods of generation and completion, sutra and tantra. Buddhahood is not to be found apart from the present mind. Protector, you have been completely enlightened from the very beginning. In order to be the glory of miserable beings, you appear in human form. Although you do not rely on the hardships of the gradual path, in order to show the instructions and liberation in the visible appearances, you show the way the vows are gradually born, but it is the experience of the great single taste, effortless, and spontaneously present. Surely look upon it, and the old and young will rejoice, and with faith, respect, and joy, I fold my palms at my heart. Day and night, at all times, with unfeigned devotion, I think that with this body, the purpose of the teachings will be accomplished. The essence of the thought of the actual Vajradhara, like the good experience of a father's wealth being passed on to his son, may the dross of pretending copper is gold not enter the ranks of the golden rosary of the Kagyu. I wonder if the Buddhas of all directions and times know from the expanse. May the wisdom eyes of the dakinis and dharma protectors look upon it. May I also greatly reign in the self-born, effortless dharmakaya.

I, the all-pervading Lord of Wisdom Vajra, May your compassion unite my mind and heart indivisibly. May this virtue adorn the Victorious Teachings! Thus, with the golden edict of the all-knowing, all-seeing Sixteenth Gyalwang Karmapa held like a golden crown upon my head, offering my own realization as a mandala, and also the supreme heart commitment and the lowliest of devotees. With prayers inseparable from the mind of the Protector, without any alteration, written and offered to the one called Gyaltsab Jamgon Tulku, may it become a platform for the descent of your joyous wisdom eyes! Namo Guru. He is the greatest of great beings, He is the holiest of holy beings, From the very beginning, he is the father of the Buddhas of the three times, Even though he has already manifestly attained enlightenment. However, for the sake of taming the difficult-to-tame beings of the degenerate age, He arises as the supreme emanation, the form of a Vajra Master, Taking upon himself the great burden of benefiting the teachings and beings. Knowing and seeing all that is Dharma and non-Dharma, The protector of beings, heavy with an inconceivable mass of qualities, The glorious and holy Lama, difficult to name. The vajra song sung by the group called "Glorious Self-Arisen Wisdom, Realization of the Dharma Sun, Activity Accomplishing All Purposes" is: Thus, although I, a bad one, have not seen even a fraction of the qualities that match those of the previous Kagyu Lamas, yet by the powerful strength of the instructions of the glorious and holy Lama, when it is unavoidable to have some certainty about them, I offer this vajra song, a sweet melody that pleases the Lama and Dakinis. Namo Guru. Father Lama, the embodiment of the three roots, Plays in the sphere of the bindu at the center of my heart. In the essence of the three kayas, inseparable in time, Though devotion with the three kinds of faith has arisen, In this cycle of delusion of clinging to permanence, The root of the three circles has not been severed. Because of that, myself and other sentient beings, Are enveloped in a great darkness of ignorance. May the Lama strive for a means to dispel it. This excellent support of leisure and endowment, Is impermanent like a bubble, without certainty, Yet confidence has become increasingly stubborn. Father Lama, by your compassion, My sentient beings' ignorance
