Yogis, is it so? The lazy one called the enemy of ignorance, pretends to be beneficial, but in reality brings harm. Do you know that ignorance is the enemy? If you know, throw it behind you. Do you understand? Throw it behind you. Ah, Nyima Peldar Bum, living and devout rich woman, the next life is more terrifying than this life, are you ready for the send-off? The send-off is the divine Dharma, have you done it? The procrastinator called the enemy of relatives, pretends to be beneficial, but in reality brings harm. Do you know that relatives are the enemy? If you know, throw it behind you. Do you understand? Throw it behind you. Ah, Nyima Peldar Bum, living and devout rich woman, the road to the next life is long and treacherous, are you ready for the steed? The steed is diligence, have you started? The slacker called the enemy of laziness, pretends to be beneficial, but in reality brings harm. Do you know that laziness is the enemy? If you know, throw it behind you. Do you understand? Throw it behind you. Having said this, after giving instructions, through practice, a wonderful yogini holding the oral transmission appeared. These are all records about Gungtang Lho. Afterwards, when Jetsun Rechenpa went to India, because there were no travelers between Nepal and India, he spent the winter in Nepal and married the daughter of Nepal Hadu Karpo. When spring came, in order to be able to go to India, he asked the King of Nepal for a token, and brought a white yak tail, a piece of musk, and one ounce of gold to pay his respects. The king said, "You Tibetan fool, I don't have time to see you." Rechenpa said, "If I can climb to the top of the palace, I have important things to report." So he offered the three gifts, climbed to the top of the palace, and sang this song: Is the palace of observation high or not? You'll know when it's surrounded by the army of prejudice. Is the mountain king of practice stable or not? You'll know when you stay in the monastery for a long time. Is the king of behavior good or not? You'll know when you transcend the eight worldly dharmas. Is the steed of diligence fast or not? You'll know when you run on the plain of laziness. Is the knot of stinginess untied or not? You'll know when you encounter wealth. Is the sword of wisdom sharp or not? You'll know when you debate with doctrine and logic. The king's law

Is it true? If Rechhung goes to India, it will become apparent. After reporting this, the king said, "Are you the disciple of Milarepa, the one called Rechhungpa?" He replied yes, and the king bestowed the symbol of the kapala, and also returned the offerings, saying to take the necessary travel expenses. This time, however many people you take to India, you will not lack anything. Rechhungpa led about a hundred people and went, and at the root of the fragrant golden mandala, he met the king of secret mantras, Depupa. The songs and histories of Jey Gampopa and others are present. After that, Jey Gampopa himself was inspired by the miraculous powers of the lama, and Jey himself, merely hearing the name of the lama, developed intense devotion and went to meet him. He arrived at Trode Tashi Gang (Spro bde bkra shis sgang), and saw a woman weaving cloth. He asked her, "Where does the one called Jetsun Milarepa live, who is said to know the thoughts of others and is able to manifest various emanations?" The woman said she knew, and pointed to an old woman, who was wearing a coarse cloth and had a loose belt tied around her waist. When asked, the old woman said, "There is nowhere to stay tonight, so stay in the upper room of my house." So he was invited to the upper room, and the old woman said, "Yesterday I went before the great Jetsun, and he said that a Kadampa teacher from U-Tsang (dbUs) would come to meet me. Whoever facilitates our meeting will be able to save us from the fear of the lower realms. One of my daughters is a practitioner and is with Jetsun, so I will have her facilitate the meeting." The next day, when he went before the lama, the lama seemed to know that I was coming, and thought that I was a worthy disciple, thinking that there would be no difficulty in receiving the teachings. He developed such arrogance, and therefore he was not granted an audience for half a month. Seban Repa gave him a package and a bundle of firewood, and sent him to a place below a garbage heap, saying, "Teacher from U-Tsang, the lama knows that you are coming, and it seems that he will also bestow teachings, so don't be impatient, pray and wait." Half a month later, he said he was going to Trode Tashi Gang to meet the lama, so he went, and saw Jetsun sitting on a throne. He offered gold, and Jetsun said, "Gold and old men do not agree."

You spoke with the food of practice. When asked what your name was, you replied, "I am called Sonam Rinchen." Sonam, Sonam, arises from accumulating great merit. A jewel for all beings. He said "action" three times. He offered a bowl of leftover chang (Tibetan barley beer), saying, "Drink this." Because he saw that he was a monk and had many attendants, he didn't dare to take it. The venerable one said, "Don't have so many discriminations, drink it." Thinking that the lama knew, he drank it all without leaving a drop, knowing that he would become a holder of the lineage and a vessel for all the instructions. Then, Seban Repa and Rechungpa said, "Come here, let's sing a welcoming song for the teacher." Then they sang this song. Homage to all the venerable lamas! The milk of the eastern white lion, although said to be full of essence, will be enjoyed by the god Indra. The might of the southern spotted tiger, although said to be very powerful, will be ridden by Dombi Heruka. The western Tushita heaven's palace, although said to be very magnificent, will be viewed by the noble Asanga. The gall of the northern white carp, although said to taste bitter, will be enjoyed by the Naga king Tsugna Rinchen. Naropa's profound path of skillful means, although said to be a near path, will be traveled by the translator Marpa. Marpa's stainless oral transmission, although said to give rise to realization, will be meditated upon by me, Milarepa. My, Milarepa's, three words of experience, although said to condense the key points, are explained because you, the Central Tibetan Stonpa, have appeared. Gold and old monks do not agree. There is no stove to boil tea on. Son, if you truly wish to practice the Dharma, do not be attached to this life, consider the next. If you wish to hold the seat of the Kagyu lineage, do not be attached to words, value the meaning. You monks should keep this in mind. This is the welcoming song for you, teacher. Furthermore, from Guhyasamaja and the four Vajrasanas, and so on, it is also said: Better than offering to the Buddhas of the three times, is a pore of hair of the master. Thus it was said. Better than offering a heap of jewels the size of Mount Meru to all the Buddhas of the three times, is a hair of the lama.
