The arising of the song. Whatever becomes the essence, sesame oil, although the ignorant know it exists in sesame, yet because they do not understand the branches of dependent origination, they cannot extract the essence of sesame oil. The co-emergent, innate wisdom, although it dwells in the hearts of all beings, cannot be realized without the pointing out of the guru, like sesame oil, it exists but is not manifest. From crushing the sesame and removing the chaff, the essence of sesame oil is produced, similarly, the meaning of suchness taught by the guru, all realms become one indivisible essence. Alas! The meaning that has been long and difficult to fathom, now manifests immediately, how marvelous! Thus, although in the ultimate truth, the distinctions of the path to be cultivated and the object to be abandoned, as well as the abandonment and realization of the result, do not exist, yet in the conventional truth, all phenomena depend on cause and effect, therefore the example of sesame and sesame oil is shown. If there is no pounding and pressing by the action of the pestle and mortar and the hand of a man, the function of oil cannot be achieved. Why is this? Because it is not from one cause, not from one condition, but from the gathering of the power of all dependent origination that it arises. Similarly, although all sentient beings are pervaded by the Dharmakaya, if the guru does not point it out and it is not cultivated by the realization of the path, the result will not manifest, therefore in the conventional truth, all phenomena depend on cause and effect and dependent origination, so it is like this. Thus, by relying on the crushing of sesame, the degree of realization of the manifestation of the wisdom of suchness is spoken of. At that time, just by hearing the sound of suchness, all those assembled were liberated from the bonds of affliction, saw the wisdom of suchness, attained the siddhi of Khechara, and it is said that the land of Zahor was emptied at once. ༈. The Great Songs of Lord Marpa reside. Namo Guru! Innate, free from elaboration, Dharmakaya, in the clear light without coming and going, with great love for the sake of others, manifesting as the Sambhogakaya, taming the retinues of the ten bhumis, the sixth Sugata Vajradhara, the one who gathers the commands spoken by him, the Lord of Secrets Vajrapani and, the venerable Dakini Sumati, the incarnate body blessed by, the yogin known as Tilopa,

I, the son of the rich heart. Naropa who practiced austerities. The lord of knowledge, the ornament of the world. Whose feet are served as ornaments, The translator Marpa Lotsawa, And Rechen father and son, etc. To all the Kagyu lineages, I respectfully bow. With the kingdom of Vajrayana, The Dharma King who protects beings, I prostrate at the feet of Lhodrak Marpa. Then, Lord Marpa requested the glorious Naropa for the empowerment, tantras, and commentaries of Chakrasamvara. Naropa extensively granted the empowerment, transmitted the tantras and commentaries, and said that practice was essential. He bestowed the Six Dharmas of Naropa, known as the four transmissions, and the Mahamudra, which introduces the innate co-emergent wisdom as mind, and instructed him to meditate on them. As a result, in general, many special realizations of the unsurpassed secret mantra arose in his mind. In particular, by meditating on tummo, the union of bliss and clarity, non-conceptuality, was realized, and he attained a state where body, speech, and mind could not be moved for seven days. And the ten signs appeared, and he spent his days and nights in a state of joy. Then, Marpa thought to himself: I have spent about twelve years in Nepal and India. I have not only received empowerments and instructions, but also studied and practiced the words and meanings without regret. So, whether it is speaking or meditating, I do not need to envy others. Now that the gold is almost gone, I will go to Tibet for a while and acquire as much gold as possible. Then I will come to India again and offer it to the lamas, making them happy, and I will thoroughly resolve the doubts about the teachings I have already received, and I will try to obtain whatever I have not yet obtained. In Tibet, I must definitely spread the teachings of the Buddha in general, and especially the teachings of the practice lineage. After such thoughts arose in his mind, he used all the remaining gold, except for the necessities for the journey, to purchase goods, and invited the Brahmin Sukamati and the yogini Sukhahari, etc. In the row of offering tsok as gratitude and celebration to Panchen Naropa, Marpa thought: The meaning of coming to India again from Tibet is that I met many learned and accomplished lamas. I received many teachings, including tantras and commentaries, and studied them. In terms of phonetic translation, I know it to the extent of being proficient. Practice and realization

The undeluded realization arises in the continuum. Now, without obstacles, I will return to Tibet. Thinking that there will be no happier moment than today, at the beginning of the Eight Great Vajra Songs, before the venerable Naropa, I drew the horse with the sound of the strings of the lute Tambura. This realization is offered as a song. Homage to the glorious master with a name! Because of your past practice and accumulation of merit, You met the incarnate Tilopa in person. You endured the unbearable suffering of samsara, And performed twelve extraordinary austerities. By the power of your ascetic practice, You saw the truth in an instant. I prostrate to the feet of Shri Jñana Siddhi! I, the young Tibetan translator, Through the karmic connection of past practice, Met you, the great Pandit Naropa. I learned the Hevajra, renowned as the profound tantra. You bestowed the essence, the Mahamaya. I also requested the essence, the Chakrasamvara. In general, extracting the essence of the four classes of tantra, With good fortune and faith, I received the initiation. The stream of blessings is uninterrupted. You introduced the meaning of the four initiations. I generated uncontaminated samadhi. I gained stability within seven days. The life force transference, like the sun and moon, Entered the unwavering abode of space. The experience of self-arisen co-emergence, Bliss-clarity-non-thought arose from within. The delusion of the two habitual tendencies, Was realized as the nature of the path of clear light. The mind's movement, grasping and the grasped, Dissolved into the dharmakaya, free from elaboration. This outer appearance, the illusory wheel of illusion, Is realized as the unborn great seal. This inner clinging, the mind's consciousness, Is like meeting an old friend. The mind's own face is known by itself. Like a mute dreaming a dream, A state of inexpressible experience arose. Like a youth experiencing pleasure, I realized a single, unspeakable meaning. O venerable Naropa, your kindness is great! You have already bestowed initiation and blessings. I still beseech you to bestow your kindness. Having offered this song of realization, the Pandit Naropa placed his hand on Marpa's head and spoke this song of advice.
