I saw some devout practitioners who were very pleased from the bottom of their hearts, and I felt reverence for them and felt immense joy. Many people spent their time without any regard for whether it was the right time or not. This song that I sang as I pleased, is by the Shakya monk who is of one mind with the Bodhisattva Dharma Lord (Choskyi Wangchuk), who delights in the Dharma Realm Vajra activity of the borderlands, with the glorious splendor of the fragrant mountain, where birds and animals roam freely, near the forest full of flowers, in the great immeasurable palace of the supreme accomplishment place of Ogyen Tsurphu. Furthermore, in this degenerate age, the supreme compassionate protector Gyalwang Karmapa, Dharma Lord Vajra, who by merely hearing his name can end samsara, became weary of the turbulent times. Remembering the kindness of the supreme master omniscient one, in order to behold the face of the incarnate body, and for myself to focus on solitude, when he temporarily intended to go to the eastern region of Dokham (mdo khams), to the Dharma practitioners and followers of U-Tsang (dbus gtsang), as a form of verbal instruction and letter, the vajra song that was bestowed is as follows: I pray to the protector, the kind one, Bless me, this ascetic, to dwell in the cave, From now on, I will dwell in the uncertain mountains, I will travel to various countries in uncertain places, Busy with aimless things, Like children playing with dust, The things I did before were meaningless, Now, if you are going to do something, do virtuous deeds, You were previously controlled by the delusion of dualistic clinging, You obtained this precious human body, But you threw it away meaninglessly in the swamp of samsara, You will not be able to find it even if you search for it later, Now is the time to accomplish great things, The relatives and friends you used to associate with, Relatives and friends will not decrease, But when you go to the next life, Will there be acquaintances or a homeland? If you don't look for a protector, look for one now, Time changes, the impermanent autumn, Various flowers in the meadow are brightly colored, What was there yesterday, withers this morning, This is the teacher of impermanent illusion, Therefore, you should think deeply and seek solitude, The body is hungry and thirsty, and it is unbearable every day, Even if you cherish it, you will eventually be separated, The four elements pass away with time, But consciousness does not

This world is like a city of illusionists. There is no leisure to stay for long, Understanding this, practice the supreme Dharma. Having more wealth cannot satisfy, Sweet words cannot deceive the ears, Even the strongest power cannot resist, The great sound of death's arrival. It has never distinguished between friends and enemies, When it will come is uncertain. Considering these, there is nothing that must be done. The path of the bardo is dark and long, Your physical eyes cannot see, So prepare the lamp of inner light. Even if you die tomorrow, you must be without regret. You will not find an opportunity to be idle, You must grasp the thought when there is no leisure. Do not expect to accumulate wealth, A life like a bird seeking food is better. Do not expect soft silk, Old ragged clothes can warm the body. You therefore must contemplate, Quietly dwell in the mountains. The bird flying upwards in the sky, It has great freedom to go where it pleases, But it must be cautious when seeking food on the ground. What to do if caught by a strong rope? You have great freedom to go where you please, But when wandering in a land full of prejudice, You will be deceived by childish people, You must be cautious in the noisy world. If caught by it, you will eventually regret it. Thinking thus, dwell in the solitary mountains. This was sung in the palace of the emanation of the Dakini's sacred place, Tso Kar. Furthermore, when the great realized Shamar Choepel Rinpoche, named Khachö Wangpo, was invited to the inner chamber of Tsurphu Monastery, the seat of Jetsun Rikhungpa Dewashepa, due to the disciples' disloyalty and various accusations, he thought that if he continued to stay in this place, he would not only be unable to maintain the Guru's seat, but also unable to benefit others, and would instead accumulate great sins. Therefore, when he went to the snowy mountain surrounded area of Namla Gyagar, he left this letter to his disciples: ༈ Homage to the Supreme! Sanskrit Romanization: nama uttarebhyah, Literal Chinese meaning: Homage to the Supreme) The name that matches the lineage is Auspicious Wisdom, The name received by throwing flowers is Immovable Victor, The name given by the Guru is Invincible One, The name given by the gods is Immaculate One, The name sung by the Dakinis is Sky-goer, The name pleasing to the Holy Mother is Chandipa. You, the beggar with many meaningless names, Please listen to this song of the path to enlightenment.
