The time to attain enlightenment is: If considered from the perspective of speed, one can attain the Stream-enterer fruit in one lifetime, the Once-returner and Non-returner fruits in the second, and manifest the Arhat fruit in the third. Therefore, relying on the basis of taking three rebirths through karma and afflictions in samsara, one can manifest inferior enlightenment. If it is extremely fast, it is also possible to become enlightened in one lifetime. The Stream-enterer, with a maximum of seven rebirths, no matter how long it takes, will take a maximum of seven rebirths in the desire realm through karma and afflictions, and then manifest inferior enlightenment. That is to say, taking seven rebirths as gods and humans, this is according to the views of the Sutra School and its autocommentary. However, the Vaibhashikas say that there are seven rebirths each as gods and humans, and seven intermediate states between them, making a total of twenty-one. Nevertheless, because the sets of seven are similar in Dharma, they are considered as seven rebirths. There are also two types of Arhats: those with remainder and those without remainder. The enlightenment manifested in this way is not complete enlightenment, but merely a slight pacification of suffering for oneself alone. The second is: "Solitary conquerors take twenty aeons, Rhinoceros-like ones take a hundred aeons to accomplish." It is said that, by nature, they are of middling faculties and rely on the path of the middling vehicle. Because the difference in view is the realization of the selflessness of persons and the non-inherent existence of objects, they realize half of selflessness, and because their thoughts are full of pride, in a place without Buddhas or Hearers, in their last existence, they manifest their own enlightenment without relying on the instructions of other teachers, therefore they are solitary conquerors. Among them, there are divisions such as: those who precede as ordinary beings, and those who precede as Hearers. There are two types of accumulation of merit, large and small, which are of middling faculties and dull faculties, and there are also those with sharp faculties like the rhinoceros horn, making a total of three. Among them, the time to manifest one's own enlightenment is that those who accumulate small amounts of merit accumulate about twenty aeons of merit below the path of seeing, and then proceed towards their own enlightenment. The word ནས་ (Sanskrit: nas, Romanization: nas, literal meaning: from) is a limiting particle of جمع, therefore, those who accumulate large amounts of merit take about fifty aeons, and those like the rhinoceros horn accumulate a hundred aeons of merit, and then achieve their own enlightenment in the next life of that rebirth. The enlightenment of the solitary conqueror is also one-sidedly peaceful. The third is: Benefiting all sentient beings, enlightenment.

"The three countless bodhisattvas." It is said that the Paramita Vehicle is endowed with the two minds of aspiration and engagement that benefit all sentient beings, and is endowed with the wisdom of realizing the two selflessnesses that do not abide in the extremes of existence and peace. By practicing the six perfections, it is said that enlightenment is attained in three countless eons. However, they remain for countless eons out of compassion for the sake of sentient beings, not for the sake of their own benefit. It is due to the power of the manifestations of magical abilities and the boundless deeds of great compassion. The need to accumulate merit in three countless eons is explained in the general collection of Paramita Sutras. In the Great Commentary on the Eight Thousand Verses, it is also explained that merit is accumulated in thirty-seven countless eons. However, it is not that merit must be accumulated at that time, but that merit equal to that accumulated at that time must be accumulated. For example, our compassionate teacher, when he was formerly a Brahmin, praised and circumambulated the Buddha Star King with one verse for seven days. It is said that by such diligence, he completed the merit of nine eons. Here, only a brief indication is given. The distinctions of the fifteen aspects of the five paths of the three vehicles—Shravaka, Pratyekabuddha, and Bodhisattva—must be learned from the Paramita Sutras and treatises such as the Ornament of Clear Realization. Second, the uncommon path has three aspects: explaining the superiority of the mantra path, explaining the differences in the times of the four classes of tantras, and explaining the actual path. The first is: "Here, due to the difference in methods, it is superior to that Paramita path." That is, although the ultimate progression of the lower vehicles and the mantra vehicle is the same in terms of definitive meaning, the mantra vehicle, as stated in the Three Kinds of Lamps: "Although the meaning is one, it is not ignorant, it has many methods and no difficulties, and it is superior because it is mastered by those with sharp faculties, therefore the mantra vehicle is superior." Thus, it is superior due to qualities such as skillful means, many means, easy means, and great intelligence. Although the basis of the path of realizing the nature of reality is the same for both Sutra and Tantra, the means are easy and quick.
