Pages 401 to 500. Pages 401 to 500. Wise heroes should refute with scripture and reason, thereby guiding to the correct view. Second, there are three aspects to abandoning the wrong conceptions posited by the Lesser Vehicle: generally refuting the tenets of the two Śrāvaka schools; specifically refuting the self posited by the Vātsīputrīyas; and showing the order of abandonment and antidotes. The first (generally refuting the tenets of the two Śrāvaka schools) is: External atoms are like phantoms, the basis-of-all with mind, the appearance of objects, by the power of not realizing this, however, in order to refute the self, etc., the Victorious One has said so. It is said that the tenets of the two Śrāvaka schools of our own school hold that the external realms of the world, etc., are composed of atoms that are other than the mind, and are considered to be true substances. When composing gross objects, some atoms touch each other but do not adhere, with gaps, like a yak's tail and a willow; others have no gaps, like a book and a pile of barley. They are held together by the wind that gathers them. When appearing to the sense consciousnesses, the Vaibhāṣikas hold that there is no form in between, it is manifest, formless, and bare. The Sautrāntikas, on the other hand, hold that the actual atoms do not appear to the sense consciousnesses, but like a hand in a garment, the appearance of the subtle atoms appears in the manner of a phantom. Both of these views are mistaken in thinking that the part that appears as various objects from the transformation of the habitual tendencies together with the mind that is the basis-of-all is a power, that is, it arises from habitual tendencies. In reality, there is no truth to anything other than the mind, because all the conventional appearances that arise in the appearances of sentient beings arise from the habitual tendencies of delusion. However, in order to refute the view that there is a self and a chief, etc., as the agent, the Victorious One has said that the aggregates, elements, and sources, etc., which are aggregates of subtle particles, exist as external objects with their own characteristics, but it should be understood that this was said according to (the capacity of beings). As it is said in the Bodhicittavivaraṇa: In order to reverse the clinging to a self, the aggregates, elements, etc., are taught. The second (specifically refuting the self posited by the Vātsīputrīyas) is: The self and the person are said to be imputed, there is no true entity, not even a particle. If there were, there would be effortless liberation, or the fault of no liberation. It is said that the Vātsīputrīyas of our own school, etc.

some. The sutra says: Bhikshus, there is a burden. The bearer of the burden is the Pudgala. Therefore, it is unreasonable to assume an inexpressible self of the Pudgala. Because I and Pudgala, etc., are merely imputed names fabricated by discrimination, and there is not even a particle of truly existing substance. If it exists, then if I am on the side of liberation, sentient beings will be liberated without effort; if on the side of samsara, there will be the fault that sentient beings will not be liberated from samsara, as shown in the Ornament of Sutras. It says: Pudgala exists only imputedly, what is said is not a substance. And so on. The third is: These and so on appear in the mind, and the wise ones speak of abandonment and remedies. It is said. As mentioned above, for example, the Vaibhashikas believe that external objects are truly existent; the Sautrantikas believe that external objects are not truly existent, but believe that the appearance of their own time is the true existence of mind-appearance; the Cittamatrins believe that like the appearance of dreams, it is not other than mind, therefore they believe that mind's self-awareness and self-illumination are truly existent; the Madhyamikas believe that mind is also not truly existent. And the Great Madhyamikas believe that it is not merely negation, but the coemergent wisdom liberated from the four extremes, and that each self-awareness is merely the correct meaning. In short, all appearances of existence are merely appearances that appear in the mind, and there is nothing established by their own nature. Therefore, the order of abandoning the defilements of the two grasps to be abandoned and generating the wisdom of realizing the antidote of non-duality should also be understood as the previous wise ones have said. That is to say, in order to counteract the clinging to self, cultivate non-self; in order to counteract the mistaken belief in other meanings, understand it as only mind; realizing that clinging to only mind is also free from elaboration, and thus gradually entering the correct path, know that this is the essence of the infinite teachings on abandonment and remedies. Third, showing the root of abandonment and remedies, divided into two: brief explanation, and extensive explanation of the number of Dharma doors. The first is: Here, for the appearance of the object, this body, with the certainty of the channels, winds, and bindus, the Tathagata spoke of abandonment and remedies. It is said. Supreme
