Because it is the Mahamudra of Rama, although both lineages are based on the fact that the transmission reaches Lord Marpa, it is the lineage of Marpa, Ngok, and Tsur. Lord Mila also held this view in essence. In the "Eighteen Questions," it is said, "Secret mantra is the greatness of skillful means. I do not say that the view is high." When giving oral instructions to Lord Gampopa, he did not say, "Merely pursue intelligence," nor did he say, "Leave it in its unprocessed, raw state," but rather, "Meditate on Tummo A-thung. Someday you will see the nature of mind." Thus, many who came later, taking the ultimate view of Marpa and Ngok as the basis, which is the reality of Mahamudra itself, do much mere intellectual pursuit, which is good if it hits the point. Otherwise, it becomes mere chatter. Therefore, one must know how to distinguish different views and understand that there is no conflict in the essential points. Here too, the advice of temporarily settling the mind is a great method for ultimately transcending the mind, so although the religious terms are different, they should be understood as having the same essential point of view. Now, to get to the point, to enhance the previous experience, the characteristic of appearance is that it has no birth, the characteristic of samsara is that it has no basis, the characteristic of mind is union, and the characteristic of the lama is that it has lineage. It is said that this was written on the handle of Jowo Naropa's umbrella. That is to say, these various appearances that exist now are not established in reality. If one focuses the mind on any object that initially appears, such as a vase or blanket, one is mistaken by the particular arrangement of the appearance. If one examines the individual parts of the object itself, each part does not have a vase or blanket, and there is no generality that is not a part. Since nothing else is established other than these two, if one looks very closely, there is no vase or blanket. If one does not examine it, the emptiness itself clearly appears as a vase or blanket. In this way, the external form is not established. Because it is not established, the consciousness that grasps it is also mistaken. Because the object of grasping and the subject of grasping do not establish the true meaning in the previous moment, the appearance of arising in the later moment is also just an illusion and is not established. Meditate on this again and again, this is the seventh point of meditation. In this way, since all phenomena are without birth, samsara does not exist. If it exists, then the basis of cause and condition

Since it must arise from a single root, although saṃsāra appears to arise from the fundamental karma and afflictive habitual patterns, since karma, afflictions, and habitual patterns themselves have not been established from the beginning, saṃsāra is also without root or basis. Eighth contemplation point: The nature of mind is not in any of the three places: outer, inner, or intermediate. Settle the mind on that which has no characteristics such as color or shape. Ninth contemplation point: It is not merely emptiness either; in that which has not been established in any nature, there exists the essence of awareness. Remember that very nature experienced during the third of the four empowerments, the wisdom that appears as bliss. Regarding this, there is the saying: appearance is known as mind, mind is known as emptiness, emptiness is known as bliss. Tenth contemplation point. The method for realizing that is the blessing of the guru, so pray and please the guru with all that is pleasing. Up to here, there are eleven contemplation points. Furthermore, there are also the self-liberation of the senses, mind dawning as wisdom, the meeting of non-duality, yoga like a flowing river, many as one taste, individual self-awareness, like a lamp, the inseparability of saṃsāra and nirvāṇa, and the non-difference of equanimity and subsequent attainment, which need to be introduced, assuming that meditation has become proficient. This Dharma tradition is not the way of separating the Six Dharmas of Mahāmudrā, but rather the Mahāmudrā of Clear Light, which is the way of unification. Second, regarding the instructions on meditating on clear light, there are two: establishing the basis of clear light and enhancing experience. The first is called "Empowerment Experience Mahāmudrā," which is that if you do not abandon conceptual thoughts, you are a sentient being; if you abandon them, you are a Buddha. It is said that abandoning it requires E vaṃ (ཨེ་ཝཾ་). E is space, and vaṃ is binding awareness immovably. The key instruction for that is: maintain the essential points of the body, look at the sky, combine the hand mudrā of the six-limbed yoga, just like the yoga of daytime. If you meditate on this, dullness will not occur, the five signs will immediately appear, non-conceptual thought will arise, and warmth and bliss will naturally arise. The second is enhancement: if it is clear, visualize as a deity with eight faces and sixteen arms; if contracting, visualize as the union of father and mother or as the selflessness mother. In the heart, visualize a red lotus and a sun, and on top of that, visualize a black Hūṃ (ཧཱུྃ). From that, radiate immeasurable rays of light, illuminating all ten directions.
