Therefore, the practice is as follows: First, the nature of mind is unborn. Second, thoughts are sudden. Finally, ordinary, effortless, naturally dissolves. Have unwavering faith in this. First, recognizing appearances as mind, etc., is similar to the general approach. By repeatedly examining the nature of mind, the essence and characteristics of inner, outer, and intermediate aspects, the emptiness in which no phenomena such as color or shape are established, is recognized and cultivated. That is, the mind is settled in a state of non-conceptualization, and recognized as unborn. Second, like clouds forming in the sky, all arising of thoughts is sudden. It does not abide in the nature of mind. The later words exemplify the cessation of the earlier appearances. That is not mind, nor is it other than mind. It is merely an appearance arising from conditions. From the moment it appears, it is empty. It is like a reflection. The example of the mind traveling in the sky is used. Third, when it is said that thoughts cease, they do not actually cease or disappear. It is merely that appearances do not arise because the causes and conditions are not complete. Therefore, the appearance of arising and ceasing is merely imputed by the mind. It is not established in essence. It is recognized by combining it with examples such as the sound of clapping hands. In this way, one recognizes that the nature is free from elaboration and that appearances are sudden. The third inconceivable instruction is: leave the nature of mind in its original state, without any modification. Do not make any adjustments to whatever arises from the appearances of the five sense consciousnesses. Maintain clear and lucid awareness, this is the second. Whatever thoughts or actions arise, do not deliberately abandon or cultivate them, but rely on the natural flow of awareness, this is the third. Moreover, when the alaya is scattered, transform appearances into the path. When you enjoy it on the path, settle into the inconceivable. If you can fully master it, that is the ultimate accomplishment. The meaning of these practices is mostly similar to the common ones, so I will not elaborate further. In the instructions of the Chakrasamvara Marpa lineage of the Kagyu tradition, the instructions of the Mila lineage and the Ra lineage, etc., are also explained by mixing the instructions of the three siddhas into one. In this lineage transmitted from Rongpo Chöje and Dode, the instructions of Naropa and Maitripa are separated, and the instructions of Zhangzhung are interspersed, and it is pointed out with a finger what this is and what that is. Although there is no difference in meaning, the words are different.

In order to prevent confusion between lineages, this system is good. Although there are some extra instructions in the old system, they are now lost, so here only the pure system of Ngog is explained. From churning the ocean of the Hevajra Tantra, this essence of profound meaning, like a rabbit, has arisen. Even without a basis, can one maintain the teachings of Marpa and Ngog with deceitful words? Even without seeing a trace of Marpa's view, yet collecting praise beyond measure, spreading vast amounts of meaningless words, and proclaiming this to be the view of Naropa and Marpa, this is truly strange. Knowing this reason, according to the view of the predecessors, write it down without concealment or confusion. Because I am urged by speech, in order to eliminate errors and to gain faith in the Dharma, I have written this. This, called "The Unmistaken Definitive Secret of the Hevajra's Oral Instructions, Mixing and Transferring, and the Nine-Fold Gradual Guide," was also urged by the command of the great Victorious Lineage Holder, the glorious Taglungpa Lord Ngagwang Tashi Peldrub, and was composed by Gyalkhampa Taranatha. May virtue and excellence increase! Even possessing all the desired enjoyments, not accumulating them; even having many retinues and pleasures, not being attached to them. The treasury of the three trainings, the storehouse of wisdom, placed in the heart of renunciation and reading. This was also written by the Dzogchen master Karma Ngedon Sungrab Tenpai Gyaltsen, in a solitary place, in the cave of the Dakinis. May virtue and excellence increase! (Tibetan, Devanagari: सर्बमङ्गलम्, Romanized Sanskrit: sarva maṅgalam, Literal Chinese meaning: All auspiciousness!) The Unmistaken Definitive Secret of the Hevajra Marpa System's Guide.
