Dream clearly, have good dreams. Generate a strong desire to recognize dreams as dreams within the dream state. Focus on the syllable Oṃ (Tibetan: ༀ, Sanskrit Devanagari:, Sanskrit Romanization: oṃ, Literal Chinese meaning: Om) at the throat, and meditate as before. This is the second point of focus. Then, again, all appearances are not other than one's own mind, they are not truly established. Generate the thought that there is no difference between the gross appearances of waking time and what is called a dream, and then relax the mind slightly. Even when relaxed, remember the syllable Oṃ (Tibetan: ༀ, Sanskrit Devanagari:, Sanskrit Romanization: oṃ, Literal Chinese meaning: Om) at the throat, and generate the wish that appearances are empty of truth, like blowing a conch shell. This is the third point of focus. Meditate on these two again and again. By becoming accustomed to this, first one will have a clear dream, and recognize that it is a dream. Then, because the desire for truth arises spontaneously, the appearance of the dream will not disappear, and a state of bliss and emptiness will arise simultaneously in the mind. This is the main practice of dream yoga. The increasing and practicing that will be explained below are its branches. Also, if one has previously practiced focusing on the bindu at the eyebrow center, then, at this time, one can also use focusing on the bindu at the eyebrow center instead of meditating on the syllable at the throat, and the desire is still practiced as before. Therefore, this also has three points of focus, and two aspects: recognizing that a dream is a dream, and recognizing the nature of a dream. For these, even if one practices for a long time, if one cannot enter the dream state, or even if one enters the dream state but cannot achieve the purpose of practice, then it is important to practice kumbhaka breathing and to practice the desire for non-truth strongly and persistently. The fourth is, as before, while meditating on either the five syllables at the throat or the bindu at the eyebrow center, strongly practice the desire to think that it is a dream. Focus on an object of the environment and beings that is in front of you, and practice expanding many things and then contracting them into one, or expanding large things into larger ones, and contracting small things into smaller ones, and so on. This is the first point of focus. Then, through recognizing non-truth, visualize trampling on things that cause fear, such as fire, water, cliffs, and things that are ugly, disgusting, shameful, and so on. Practice unobstructedness on obstructed things such as Mount Meru. This is the second point of focus. Then, while still accompanied by the desire for illusion, grab onto the rays of the sun and moon,

Observe the thirty-three (heavens) and so on. Go to Tushita (Tibetan: དགའ་ལྡན།, Ganden) and listen to the Dharma from Maitreya (Tibetan: བྱམས་པ་, Jampa). Behold the face of the Yidam deity. Meet with the Guru and Dakinis, and request empowerment. Fly in the sky. Submerge into the earth. From above, flames blaze, and from below, floods erupt, and so on, generate the aspiration to perform various kinds of miracles. Meditate on it repeatedly. This is the third meditation cycle. For all three of these, first, focus the mind on the throat or between the eyebrows. Cultivate the aspiration that this appearance is unreal and like a dream. Then, with their respective visualizations, one must continuously meditate with the thought, 'Tonight, in my dream, I will do this as well.' If one meditates like this during the day, it will naturally occur at night. The fifth is, again, during the day, as before, focus the mind on any of the five letters at the throat or the bindu at the forehead. Strongly cultivate the aspiration that it is unreal and like a dream. In that state, rest without focusing on anything for a moment, and then immediately visualize all the outer and inner worlds of oneself and others clearly as the mandala of Hevajra (Tibetan: དགྱེས་པ་རྡོ་རྗེ།) or Nairatmya. Briefly cultivate the aspiration that it is unreal and like a dream. By meditating like this repeatedly during the day, it will also occur in dreams at night. First, the deity's form arises. By recognizing that it is unreal, bliss is naturally attained, and a state arises where the deity's form remains unmoving in the state of clear light bliss. This brings the dream yoga to completion. For this Hevajra blending and transference, the root of the illusory body instruction is said to be dreams. Because for a beginner, the experience of illusion during the waking state is difficult to arise suddenly and forcefully, it is necessary to emphasize the key points during the waking state first. Compared to illusion, tummo alone is the key point. However, from the dream yoga instructions, even a beginner can immediately generate experience. If that happens, then generating the experience of illusion during the waking state is also without difficulty. Therefore, if one goes to the secret path of dreams, there is no difficulty with the illusory body during the waking state. Thus, the root of illusion during the waking state and the bardo is dream illusion. Also, during the explanation of the tantra of this tradition, tummo is at the navel, clear light is at the heart, illusory body is at the throat, and action mudra is at the crown of the head. When combining the four paths on the four chakras, the illusory body instruction emphasizes the key points at the throat.
