As said, for deities such as the supreme deity Hevajra or Chakrasamvara, after reciting the approach mantra one million times, it is considered permissible to perform one hundred thousand ganachakras for other mandalas such as Guhyasamaja. Among them, one million for the main deity and one hundred thousand for the retinue is a common rule for all Anuttarayoga Tantras. There are many unique aspects of each tantra class. Regarding the statement that countless recitations are needed to achieve the supreme accomplishment, it is because one is extremely familiar with the deity yoga, which is what is to be accomplished. Therefore, one can achieve it with a small number of recitations, such as one hundred thousand. If luminosity does not arise in samadhi, it is difficult to achieve actual accomplishment with mere vocal recitation. Therefore, it should be understood as needing countless recitations. Statements such as "recite until enlightenment is attained" are merely to please the foolish, as stated by the great venerable one. Furthermore, it is said that the recitation of those controlled by the three poisons of greed, hatred, and delusion, as well as the foolish and those with speech impediments, cannot be assigned a fixed number. Fifth, the necessity of recitation is that proper recitation stimulates the minds of the Buddhas and Bodhisattvas and their retinues, thereby bestowing blessings and achieving both supreme and common accomplishments. As stated in the Vajra Tent Tantra: "Buddhas, Bodhisattvas, Dakinis, and independent mothers, in order to manifest and perform activities, please listen to the mantras. For example, when someone is called by a sound, they will appear. Likewise, all the Tathagatas will come." Therefore, abandoning mental distractions and reciting with one-pointedness, the Buddhas and Bodhisattvas and their retinues will undoubtedly come and bestow blessings. This has also been mentioned many times above, and should be understood from that. Second, explaining the specific practice of approach, there are two parts: the actions needed in common for approach and accomplishment, and explaining the approach methods of each tantra class. The first part has three points: the method of determining sessions, the actions during the sessions, and the actions between sessions. The first point is that dividing the day into two sessions, from dawn to noon and from noon to dusk, is excellent because there is less distraction and more mantra recitation. The Jonangpas say this, and it seems that most Tibetans and Nepalis also practice this way. Few people do this nowadays. Dividing the day into three sessions, morning, noon, and evening, is convenient for beginners, and most

do. The current common practice is four sessions, which, as stated in texts such as the Hevajra Tantra and the Naming Lama, should be divided into four sessions. The Sutra Blending of Nagarjuna and the Moon Lamp Clarifier, among many other Indian treatises by wise and accomplished masters, emphasize this. Regarding the four sessions, Jalandharipa said, "The order of blessing in four sessions is dawn, noon, afternoon, and night, which is the order of meditation." What is now practiced is what he said: from dawn until daybreak, then noon, then sunset, then dusk, entering a session. Especially for supreme accomplishment, dusk is the time to subdue demons, so begin with preliminaries such as the protective circle. Dawn is the time of enlightenment, so begin with the generation stage and recitation, which is the beginning of the main practice. As stated in the Vajra Tent, "After the vajra sun sets, one should begin all practices. When the dawn appears, the highest meditation will be accomplished." Although this tantric verse is a direct description of the manifestation of enlightenment, it also applies here. For different activities, dawn is for pacifying, noon is for increasing, evening is for magnetizing, and dusk is the beginning of wrathful activities. The duration of a session should be measured according to the number of recitations and the movement of the sun, making them even. Generally, when coming out of retreat, it is said to be like "imitating," initially relaxing and having short sessions, then tightening and having long sessions, and finally gradually relaxing and having short sessions. In particular, whether visualization and recitation are on the path or not should be adjusted according to one's own constitution, not too long or too short, but just right. The number of sessions initially determined should not be reduced until the recitation is completed. The second point is that, most importantly, one must have bodhicitta, and for the benefit of all sentient beings, one must quickly attain the supreme accomplishment of Mahamudra. For this purpose, one should practice this supreme deity. If one always thinks with a firm determination to quickly achieve accomplishment, then virtuous actions will enter the path, and the blessings of the yidam will quickly merge into one's mindstream. If one's mind is controlled by afflictions and other thoughts, one should properly adjust one's understanding of death and impermanence, and thereby encourage virtuous actions. If one does not do so, practice will be controlled by afflictions, and virtuous actions will not be accomplished, so one should rely on the lama.
