As stated in the Chakrasamvara Tantra and others, one should practice in this way for various needs such as purifying karmic obscurations. In the Sadhana of Akshobhya Vajra's Black Enemy, it says, "Having arisen, contemplate the body of the secret mantra, and recite without adding to the count." Thus it is said. All recitations of speech must be done with the speech being very pure, and with the method of recitation being very pure. Long syllables should not be recited as short, short syllables should not be recited as long or very long, and very long syllables should not be recited as short, etc., one should recite as in the method of reading Sanskrit. Likewise, the recitation of mantras should not be too slow or too fast, short syllables should be recited for the duration of a blink of an eye, etc. In particular, the letters of the mantra itself should not be missing or superfluous, and the pronunciation should be thorough and clear. In short, avoid the five faults of recitation: if too fast, syllables are dropped; if too slow, the count is not reached; if the sound is too loud, obstacles arise; if the sound is too soft, accomplishment is slow; if there is error or omission, accomplishment is reversed. As the Red Yamari Tantra says, "Not fast, not slow, the mantra should be heard slightly." Therefore, it is necessary not to be interrupted by idle talk. As the Buddha Topknot Tantra says, "If one recites as if conversing with each other, the accomplishment will turn into something else." And as the Well-Accomplished Tantra says, "While reciting, do nothing at all, and do not move the limbs." The Hum-Maker Tantra also says that it is necessary not to be interrupted by speech before the warmth of the seat has disappeared. In short, what should be avoided is, as the Army Protector Tantra says, "Rituals are deficient and letters are not rounded, there is no offering and impure recitation is done, if the letters are increased or incomplete, then the secret mantra will not give great accomplishment." Therefore, for restoring deficiencies and so on, and for all increases, decreases, deficiencies, and damages of mantras, one should confess and restrain oneself afterwards. In particular, the Vajra Heart Ornament Tantra says, "Whatever is increased or decreased in the secret mantra, all is completed by pure fire offerings." Thus, one should supplement and purify with a peaceful fire offering, such as one-tenth of the recitation. Fourth, increasing power: At the time of rising at dawn, bless the breath with Vajra recitation. Do as the blessing of speech arises from the oral instructions.

Or, to summarize, at dawn, immediately after waking up and before speaking to anyone else, one should think: "Whatever I do today, I will do for the benefit of all sentient beings; whatever I say, I will say for the benefit of all sentient beings." This thought is what Rangjung Chökyi Wangchuk said. Keep the pure intention in mind and recite the following: On the single lotus petal of one's tongue, the syllable ཨཱཿ (Tibetan: ཨཱཿ, Sanskrit Devanagari: आः, Sanskrit Romanization: āḥ, Chinese literal meaning: Ah) with vowels and consonants, may it purify the obscurations of speech. (Tibetan, Sanskrit Devanagari, Sanskrit Romanization, Chinese literal meaning) Recite three times. May the power of my tongue possess the confidence of the Sugatas! May the majestic power of speech subdue all sentient beings! Whatever words I speak, may their meaning be completely fulfilled!" Say this. At the beginning and end of each session, bless with vowels and consonants, and use the Hundred Syllable Mantra to make up for omissions and deficiencies. Because the main way to increase power and ability is to receive empowerment from the deity, one should diligently receive the empowerment of the wisdom being merging and the path, and also please them with timely offerings. Fourth, the amount of recitation: In general, for mantras with fewer than fifteen syllables, the number of recitations should be one hundred thousand times the number of letters; for mantras with thirty-two syllables, recite three million times; for more mantras, recite one million times, which is the view of most people. However, the Two Examinations Tantra states: "The recitation of the main deity of the mandala is one hundred thousand times, and the recitation of the mandala retinue is ten thousand times." etc., just as the amount of close retreat explicitly stated in the tantras and Indian treatises can accomplish, thereby accomplishing empowerment and consecration, pacifying activities, and common achievements. If it exceeds ten million times, then supreme achievements will be accomplished. As the Compendium of Origins states: "Between a hundred, a thousand, and a million, only represents the number. Reciting countless mantras, produces unsurpassed virtue." And its commentary, The Lotus Garland, states: "Countless means reciting ten million or more mantras, which can generate the great seal accomplishment and the subsequent corresponding achievements." That is the meaning. Therefore, the former is only the common achievement.
