Within the secret wisdom of awareness, purify the eight great charnel grounds with pure consciousness. Abandon the ten non-virtuous guardians of the directions. The emblem-tree of the eight Buddhas. Protect the vehicle of mantra that guards the fields. Establish the eight nagas in order to destroy malice. The stupa is the place of the self-arisen Buddha. Yogis practice asceticism. Water is the profound subject to be expressed, while fire and so on are devoid of realization. Thus it is said. These are the arrangements of the support, the palace of measure. The meaning of the term 'immeasurable palace' is: By placing the negative prefix before the Sanskrit word 'yana' meaning measure, 'niyana' means immeasurable palace. Since its adornments and arrangements are beyond imagination, and cannot be compared or measured by anything else, it is called the immeasurable palace. The meaning of its door ornament, called 'horse descent,' is: By combining with the sphere of swiftness, 'swiftness' is the outer door or horse descent. Since all Indian temples have horse descents at their outer doors, everyone dismounts from their horses upon arriving there, hence the name horse descent, as stated in the Immortal Treasury. Similarly, the star window of the horse descent is called 'bull back,' said to be named because its shape resembles a three-eyed jewel placed on the back of an elephant. Then, in order to purify the state of birth, the method of relying on the generation of the deity, extensively there is the generation of the five clear realizations, moderately there is the generation of the four vajras, and concisely there is the generation of the three rites, and among the three aspects, here it is related to the generation of the four vajras. As stated in the Two Examinations Tantra and the Later Tantra of the Compendium: 'First is emptiness, bodhicitta; second is the gathering of seed syllables; third is the completion of form; fourth is the placing of letters. With these four vajras, one should ultimately engage in accomplishment and approach.' As it is said, at the beginning of entering the generation stage, there must be some certainty about what is to be purified and what purifies. Therefore, the white and red elements of the parents in the womb and the intermediate state consciousness together with wind become one, which is the cause, Vajradhara or Chakrasamvara itself, commonly known in the tantric systems. Therefore, the method of perfecting as the deity of the ground state, first, in order to purify the dying state and the intermediate state, is emptiness, bodhicitta.
