Generally speaking, like it is said, the seven-branched defeat, if confessed without interruption, will be purified. The first three are gross transgressions, and the rest are as previously stated, please be sure to understand. The instruction on guarding also seems good. Situations without transgression are: Generally, just because of the lama, doing Dharma-like actions, etc., if it is not something displeasing, the lama is not happy; or, things done with the intention to benefit the lama himself, if they are prevented and he is not happy; or, oneself abiding in the Middle Way, and not accepting the lama's view of abiding in Mind-Only, etc., and he is not happy; or, not accomplishing non-Dharma instructions; or, with an enhanced mind, doing medical treatments beneficial to the body, but instead becoming unsuitable and turning into faults, etc., from the beginning there is no transgression, because all dharmas depend on the mind. This refers to the state where the mind's intention is completely pure, without any faults, and possessing faith. For accomplished lamas, one must absolutely not do things that go against their wishes, not even in jest or laughter. Even seemingly non-virtuous instructions, if carried out, will turn into great benefits, because it is impossible for instructions without great meaning to arise. For example, Jetsün Götsangpa once said to a patron who didn't understand much, "My monk soldiers are leaving now." Because he didn't elevate him, many monks were crushed by an avalanche; he also said, "Burn down that big house up there." Because it wasn't burned down, he said, "If it had been burned down, the smoke would only have covered the chest area, but now it can only be built as big as a baby garuda." Examples like this are countless in this lineage. Therefore, the root of all accomplishments is the lama, so one must strive to cultivate strong faith and reverence, and practice guru yoga in four or six sessions, etc., to avoid being defiled by the root transgressions. Regarding the second root transgression, the essence is: A mantra practitioner knowingly and deliberately disrespects the Buddha's teachings and the lama's Dharma-like teachings, that is the essence. As it is said, "Transgressing the Sugata's teachings, is declared to be the second downfall." And "Because of transgressing his teachings, it turns into other causes." The reason is: All the Buddha's teachings are for placing sentient beings on the basis of higher rebirth and definite good,

Because the object of reliance is the same and does not belong to other categories, and because accomplishment depends on the guru's teachings. The objects are: all the Buddha's correct teachings such as the Three Vehicles, and those valid treatises are also the same as the teachings. As it says in the Uttaratantra, "Also like the words of the sage, hold them on the crown of the head." The guru is the embodiment of all the Buddhas, so his teachings are no different from the Buddha's teachings. If you go beyond that, you will fall into non-virtue. The intention is: because you know that the teachings are the teachings and there is no confusion, you want to despise them because of disrespect. The actual action is: as it says in the Vinaya, "Although it is said like this, it is only said." Like this, you clearly speak words of contempt to signal to others, or you think like this in your heart. The time is: if the object exists, then the other person understands its meaning; even if it does not exist, when your own thoughts reach the extreme, you will commit this root downfall. The way of falling is: in general, you commit a root downfall with seven combinations. If you confess within the time limit, you commit a downfall. For example, "You should not kill sentient beings." Like this, you cling to the literal meaning, and then say, "You should kill sentient beings." Like this, if you slander the meaning that has a hidden meaning, you commit a gross offense. Because the other limbs are incomplete, so because it is inconsistent with your own thoughts, you make a slight slander, then you will commit a misdeed. Although they are all root downfalls, the sutras and tantras of the Mahayana and the sutras of the Shravakayana and the teachings that only show the methods of higher rebirth, from the point of view of the object of reliance, the former is slightly heavier than the latter, because there is a difference between the near cause and the far cause of accomplishment. The situation of not falling is: for other people's questions, you say different names, or you distinguish between the definitive and the provisional, or you see the special need to subdue others, like this, you only show it like contempt, then there is no fault. Therefore, you should respect all the Buddha's teachings equally, and even the subtle points should be remembered and not forgotten. By understanding the key points of the six extremes and four aspects and the hidden and non-hidden meanings, take corresponding actions in different situations, and do not despise all the subtle precepts. Although this is the case, for disputes such as whether "ra li" is a tantra or not, and for disputes such as whether the "Buddha Top Nine Sutras" is a sutra or not, later Tibetans regard these as the characteristics of the wise, but in fact this is very much related to this root downfall and the act of abandoning the Dharma.
