Clearly visualizing and reciting is called "clearly visualizing the letter." If one is accustomed to this, visualizing and reciting clearly in this way is called "completely clearly visualizing the deity" in some manuscripts. In short, everything from the seed syllable to the protective wheel should be clearly visualized and recited one by one according to what was said above regarding their purity and characteristics. Do not spend too long on each one, and maintain a continuous flow of visualization and recitation. Focusing on the body is mindfulness of the body. Similarly, with completely pure wisdom, it is mindfulness of the mind and phenomena. In order to bless all feelings as happiness, it is mindfulness of feelings, which is the nature of the four mindfulnesses. Therefore, in order to protect against the arising of unwholesome thoughts and to cut off those that have already arisen, it is the right abandonment of not generating the unwholesome and cutting off those that have already arisen. With completely pure wisdom, contemplating the ultimate truth and the conventional truth of the deity's form, that is, uniting the two truths, is therefore proper attention, which is the correct root of virtue. In order to generate the ungenerated, not to degenerate the generated, and to increase it, it is the right abandonment of generating the ungenerated virtue and protecting the generated. It is necessary for beginners to have a method of focusing their attention on the object, not to be controlled by excitement and dullness, and for the generation stage to be clear and stable. Because of completely pure mindfulness, it becomes an antidote to ordinary conceptual thoughts. In general, according to the tradition of Marpa and Milarepa, beginners should abandon other activities, strictly observe retreat, and in a room or other undisturbed place, rely on a thangka of the deity in the sunlight and shining objects, and strive single-mindedly during the day. In one day or three days, or at least half a month or a month, the generation stage will become clear and stable. As it is said in the "Two Examinations Tantra": "With love, one can also accomplish the desired results, and fully realize it within half a month. After completely abandoning all thoughts, with focus on the deity's form, without interruption for one day, one should fully examine the practice." After that, superior yogis practice the generation stage and completion stage simultaneously, intermediate yogis practice the visualization and recitation of the generation stage in the morning session and the visualization of the completion stage in the afternoon session, and so on. But nowadays, the generation stage and completion stage of the Kagyu...

Since the place has also come to an end, no one seems to be doing such a thing. Similarly, in some practices, one meditates on the deity during the day and recites mantras at night; one meditates on the deity in the morning and recites mantras in the afternoon; or one mainly meditates on the deity and then explains the recitation as post-meditation yoga. However, here, meditating on the deity's form and reciting mantras are done simultaneously, so the stability of the generation stage and the accomplishment of the mantra's power occur at the same time, which is very profound. The instructions from the scriptures also say that for those with extremely sharp faculties, the recitation and meditation of the generation stage and the completion stage are also practiced simultaneously without distinction. Thus, with effort, the generation stage becomes clear and stable. With pure knowledge, one is free from clinging to the ordinary appearance of things. Without relying on generating antidotes, dullness and agitation, and improper ways of thinking all subside, and signs of thoughts moving towards objects, such as smoke, appear, and one abides in the nature of bliss, clarity, and non-conceptuality, like a bee sticking to pollen, or conceptual thoughts are cut into pieces, and the object of focus abides clearly and without grasping, so that even mutually exclusive thoughts are difficult to arise. Then, the meaning of the first recitation stage is accomplished, which is the nature of binding and gathering ordinary thoughts. Second, the small cessation recitation is: At that time, from the seed syllable to the protection wheel, whatever is clear and whatever one desires to appear, one focuses single-pointedly on that appearance and recites. If one feels that dullness, agitation, or thoughts are arising, one should do a little of the previous recitation of establishing the deity's form, and then relax again, focusing single-pointedly on whatever is comfortable, and recite. Because there are fewer thoughts than before, it is called small cessation recitation, which is to stabilize the arising of samadhi, and is a limb of dhyana. Thus, in the nature of bliss and non-conceptuality, the form of the deity in the generation stage is very clear and stable, so that there is no distinction between meditation and post-meditation, and even when slightly distracted, the form of the deity does not cease. This is the perfection of the yoga of calm abiding based on the meditation of the generation stage, and the four of the five obscurations of dhyana—agitation, regret, dullness, and drowsiness—do not interrupt it, and the power of the mantra is accomplished in the manner of a sprout, i.e., generation.
