Ma. Bestowing empowerments on others without having completed them oneself. Teaching the Dharma for the sake of this life. Disparaging the lower trainings. Displaying oneself as superior to others for the sake of gain. Undertaking activities without the ability to do so. Abiding in meaningless laziness. Abandoning loving-kindness. Delighting in engaging in inferior conduct. Passing time with worldly distractions. Casting aside degeneration. Abandoning one's own conduct. These are said to be downfalls. Therefore, taking the monthly empowerment as an auspicious time for offerings, and the need to perform mandala offerings and practices six or four times a day, are all actions that exceed the proper time. Abandoning superior deities and taking up other deities, etc., making choices about which deities to accept or reject. Considering worldly protectors as supreme. Clinging to images of deities, etc., as truly existent. Becoming a Vajra Master without having completed the empowerments, and teaching Dharma that one has not attained. Teaching secret mantras for the sake of worldly gain. Disparaging the lower vows and treating them with contempt. Claiming to have attained qualities that one's own guru has not attained, for the sake of gain and honor. Engaging in activities without the ability to do so. Abiding in laziness. Not acting to benefit beings who are objects of benefit, as if one were incapable of helping. Delighting only in the conduct of the lower vehicles and engaging in such conduct. Passing time with worldly distractions. Not subduing those who can be subdued, even though one has the ability to do so, with regard to vows that have been broken, etc. Abandoning the proper time for one's own conduct and engaging in other conduct. These fifteen are downfalls for beginners. The way in which they do not contradict the root downfalls can be understood from the context. If they are connected with a special need, then there is no downfall. Seventh, the seven auxiliary practices that are in harmony with the branches are: Closely attending to holy beings, and not attending to others. Discriminating those who are suitable vessels. Abandoning harming others for the sake of desire. Not (doing things) for the sake of wealth, such as the Three Jewels. Not abandoning the benefit of others, even for an instant. Seizing all virtues with dedication and aspiration. Being skilled in the very nature of the transference of consciousness. These are also said to be faults of the branches. Therefore, attending closely to superior gurus and abandoning those who are not superior. Gathering disciples who are suitable vessels and not gathering those who are not suitable. Not harming others for the sake of this life. Not (doing things) for the sake of the Three Jewels.

Not enjoying heavy objects, etc., not abandoning the benefit of others, combining whatever good deeds are done with the generation of bodhicitta. The main practice is pure in the three spheres, and afterwards, increasing through dedication. Knowing the signs of death, not passing away before the time comes, these seven aspects should be studied, and if violated, it is a fault of the branch. In short, according to the order of the tantras, in connection with the manner of the four empowerments and the subsequent, the wise should carefully examine. How the transgressions and so on are combined with the empowerment, and also the order of distinguishing failures, etc., is also where afflictions arise, there having knowledge, body and speech combined relying on intervals, not being confused, without regret, exceeding measure, possessing seven is called failure. The main practice is without and exceeding measure, called transgression, the rest is similar. What is inferior to that is of the branch, the main one is heavy, like being large, the other branches are equal to transgression. Similar subtle is evil deeds, transgression without sin is an image appearing, well knowing to rely on antidotes. How to become a transgression, etc., has already been explained at the time of the root transgressions. Three Jewels, Bodhi, inner and outer mind, object and object-possessor, inner and outer conditions, in the activities of cutting off and taking in, all vows are gathered. As it is said, all those vows are also briefly, not abandoning the refuge of the Three Jewels and the inner and outer bodhicitta, not doubting the purity of object and object-possessor, approaching the inner and outer favorable conditions, not exceeding the time of cutting off and taking in activities, gathering into twelve or five, for all vows also one should know. Now is the second, the vows of mantra will be explained separately, this has five: nature, classification, object, each's own nature, the boundary of attainment. The nature is, the wisdom of great bliss established as indivisible from E-Vam (Tibetan: ཨེ་ཝཾ།, Sanskrit Devanagari: एवं, Sanskrit Romanization: evam, Chinese literal meaning: thus), is the actual vow of unsurpassed Vajrayana, as it says in the Two Examinations: When the difference of vows is spoken, Ali Kali is, the sun and the moon and wisdom and means. As it says, in the third chapter of the Later Examination, the vows spoken there, the vows of all Buddhas are, E-Vam (Tibetan: ཨེ་ཝཾ།, Sanskrit Devanagari: एवं, Sanskrit Romanization: evam, Chinese literal meaning: thus) completely abides. Thus. Distinguishing from the gateway of empowerment, the vows of the four empowerments are four, with E-Vam (Tibetan: ཨེ་ཝཾ།, Sanskrit Devanagari: एवं, Sanskrit Romanization: evam, Chinese literal meaning: thus) combining to produce the four joys or in an instant.
