Merely accumulating knowledge does not lead to wisdom, and this lineage holds that: bliss, clarity, and non-thought are the pitfalls of meditation. Considering unconscious samadhi to be a great pitfall, the venerable Phagmo Drupa once said, "Yesterday I lost my memory and couldn't remember anything, like a fool for a long time." Gampopa replied, "Oh, I don't like that; it's a delusion. I have been deceived many times by similar situations before." Non-thought that is preceded by investigation and analysis through Madhyamaka reasoning is merely the non-thought that desires to stop thinking and analyzing. When accompanied by thinking and analysis, the practice of shamatha is accompanied by dullness, and the understanding of general meaning is not within the scope of vipassanā. Similarly, the non-thought of the samadhi of causal absorption in the desire realm, and the non-thought of the respective realms of the two upper realms, are easily understood as merely the cause and effect contained within the three realms. The non-thought of the Arhats of the Hearers and Solitary Realizers, who have cut off all feelings, is the cessation samadhi of the Lesser Vehicle, and there are cases of abiding in this for a kalpa. Ordinary Bodhisattvas cannot abide in the non-thought of dharmata, while those who have attained the bhumis can actually enter the state of non-thought of dharmata, but there is a fault of prematurely manifesting the ultimate reality, and because the work of benefiting others will decline, they are afraid, so they are forbidden to abide in that state for more than seven days. In the path of Vajrayana, there are also various non-thoughts similar to the previous ones, as well as when the generation stage of one's own path is stable, when the illusions of day and night merge, when the energies of bliss and warmth merge, the luminosity with elaboration, and the non-thought forms arising from the non-elaboration Mahamudra, etc. Although there are many, each has its own advantages and disadvantages, experiences and realizations, etc. It is necessary to ask a guru with experience and blessings to understand the key points without error. In general, the correct view of realizing the very nature of mind through one's own self-aware wisdom is the supreme non-thought spoken of in the Non-Conceptual Dharani, etc., which is the direct perception of a yogi.

In short, it is not non-conceptual, where all mindfulness and intelligence cease, nor is it the realm of mindfulness and intelligence with conceptualization, because there is no inverted state. Because it is the nature of wisdom that thoroughly distinguishes all dharmas, it is also not the rain of self-aware mindfulness. In short, it is the correct view with unlost right mindfulness, possessing the one-pointedness of right concentration, distinguishing with correct discrimination, and possessing correct views. Therefore, the eightfold noble path arises simultaneously, and the way in which right concentration and right discrimination are not contradictory simultaneously is also like this. Therefore, Lord Marpa said: "Do not falsely attribute 'non-conceptual' to that which is without conceptualization. Do not think of 'unborn' for things that are unborn from the beginning. It is also a fault to think 'separate' for great bliss that is free from imputation. Do not presume 'pure' for the experience of clear light." And the yogi who does not grasp at characteristics said: "There is no thought of negating this or that." etc., showing that abiding like the sky without characteristics is the supreme path, thus explaining the way of not preventing the notion of characteristics, and showing the directly perceived non-conceptual as the nature of the path, thus explaining that conceptualization is not prevented, and abiding in spontaneously accomplished non-conceptualization, and saying that it is impossible to eliminate the extremes of imputation and depreciation by effort, and finally saying: "If the unmade self-illumination does not arise, even if one meditates diligently on non-conceptualization, non-conceptualization itself will be the cause of obscuration, just as undigested medicine is heavier in the midst of illness. Therefore, when the mind itself realizes itself, it is said to cut off the imputation of effortless meditation." Therefore, if the key point that conceptualization cannot be abandoned and non-conceptualization cannot be established does not emerge from the depths of the heart, even if one covers it with thousands and hundreds of thousands of drawings of understanding made by false fabrications that expect goodness, one will not be able to transcend this root downfall. If one understands such a key point, even if one deliberately and repeatedly clings to characteristics, it will not become a root downfall, because one knows that characteristics and non-characteristics are equal, so no matter how one changes the form of characteristics, one knows that it is like drawing a picture on water, and one will only be amazed, and no other concept will arise. Therefore, Do Ganga Ma said: "Even if one establishes various names in empty space, one cannot say 'like this' to space, that..."
