In short, from the student's own perspective, the moment of generating the ultimate thought of contempt is the moment of becoming the first root downfall. This is because all good and non-good depend on one's own thoughts, not on the object. When the ultimate thought of contempt arises, all the experiences and abilities in that student's continuum will disappear, and all unwanted things will occur. Therefore, it is not necessary to grasp the teacher's mental disturbance. As it says in the Root Tantra of the Kalachakra: "Taking from the heart of the glorious lama will turn into a rabbit grabber." And as quoted earlier, "From disturbing the mind," and "From slandering the teacher from the heart," and "Therefore, despising him." But it does not say "displeased in the heart," and "From mental disturbance," and "From not liking the teacher from the heart," and "Therefore, from despising him, he himself becomes mentally disturbed." Because of this, and because "making displeased" does not cover "happening," and "disturbing" does not cover "mental disturbance," etc. If one thinks that not making the teacher unhappy is not a root downfall, then one will become less cautious, because there is an object to be prevented. Moreover, for the later downfalls that take a person as the object, the object also needs to know, which would overly require the teacher to be mentally disturbed. Therefore, it is not correct for Buton Rinchen Drup to set mental disturbance as the final moment. Regarding the way downfalls arise, according to Jampal Drakpa's view, in the auto-commentary it says: aroused by strong afflictions, knowing it there, not restraining the actions of body and speech, killing by separating from the real life, knowing and not regretting, rejoicing and not being confused, these seven actions are all complete, and after time passes, it becomes a parajika. If one passes away without exceeding the time, it is a downfall. The first three thoughts that are not separated from life are coarse. The other six are not complete, only the manifestation of body and speech is said to be an evil deed, although it is not elaborated in detail, but if it is separated from the real life, because the teacher is regarded as the essence of the Buddha, it is not like drawing blood from the body of the Tathagata with malice, and entering the mandala, nourishing with the nectar of the father and the Tathagatagarbha. Because the action done is abiding on dry land, therefore the Arhat and the Sangha of the noble ones are all thereby

Because it gathers with nectar, it is the supreme source of the gate of gathering the Sangha, so killing and robbing them actually becomes the five inexpiable sins, therefore it is called a root downfall. This is an immeasurable and unspeakable fault. The extent of this fault, who other than the Buddha can know and speak of? But this is only a matter of categorizing similar types of downfalls. Even if this person dies and receives empowerment, they cannot recover from the root downfall in this life. Because one must confess to the guru from whom the root downfall arose and retake the vows, but that guru has already been killed. Moreover, other Vajra masters will not restore this state through empowerment. Even if it is restored, the restorer will become a sinner, and the root downfall will not be restored. Because the Vinaya also says that if one does not abandon the cause of the downfall, one cannot confess. However, if a strong, unbearable regret arises, admitting that the mistake is a mistake, and performing all the confession rituals. In particular, offering a large amount of wealth to the worldly relatives of the guru's son or disciple and confessing, or promising to be a servant, or fasting, etc., through long practice, when one slightly obtains a sign of alleviating karma, the guru will show the wisdom body, instruct the method of liberation from the downfall, and gradually take them in. Therefore, making separation from life a branch is from the standpoint of negating the extreme of existence. Generally speaking: Afflictions all arise, the knower, body and speech combined, relying on the interval, without error, without regret, beyond measure. Like this, the seven combinations are only combined according to the general instruction, that is, the failure of the seven branches. If confession is not interrupted, it is a downfall. Only the first three are coarse. The rest are explained in the same way as before, this is a definite idea. The way of teaching to protect, this also seems good. The situation of no downfall is: generally speaking, only in terms of the guru, doing Dharma-like actions, etc., the guru is not pleased. The situation is not a place where the guru is not pleased, but it is done with the intention of benefiting the guru, but the guru is not pleased and asks to stop, or one abides in the Middle Way, while the guru abides in the view of Mind-Only.
