It is said that the Vajra song from the hermitage in the Lhalung forest was heard by Yerpa of Spokar, and that the great accomplished Orgyenpa and others also practiced wisdom conduct without relying on attire and companions. The point is, if one has gained stability in the generation stage of the Bhagavatī, and possesses the power of mantra, and has gained great warmth in the completion stage, then if one is happy to engage in this conduct, one should ask the Vajra master for permission. If one has not obtained it, then at that time one should take the vow of conduct, make the attire of Heruka, and together with the prophesied companion, not dwell in any place, directly cut off the attachment of grasping, be fearless like a lion, be free from food like a mad elephant, mix all external appearances into it, and practice until one realizes the original nature of Dharmata without modification. The subsequent post-attainment of this is that the deity image of the generation stage is the main thing, and it is expanded with the arrogance of knowing that it is emptiness, and thus practiced inseparably. Some later generations seem to proclaim whether or not they have obtained the hair empowerment, but apart from the vow of conduct, I have not seen it spoken of in other reliable treatises. Moreover, in the vow of conduct, there are also two vows, the vow of Vajrasattva and the vow of Heruka. The former is the common practice of the unsurpassed, and the latter is the uncommon vow of the mother tantra. Just as when a Bhikshu takes ordination, the abbot blesses and gives the robes and bowl, etc., the ornaments and implements of Heruka, etc., arise from the seed syllables and implements, are blessed and given, and then the definitive meaning is explained, so that they are established on the knowledge of the suchness of the attire. If this is established as the name of the hair empowerment, then since all names are imputed, there is no contradiction. Some people rely on the words "adorned with a braided crown, the precious and excellent headdress" etc. at the time of the crown empowerment of the five wisdom empowerments, and perform a false empowerment, and then say that from then on the vow of not being allowed to shave the hair, which only fools many people. Because the five wisdom empowerments are also common to the yoga tantra, and the words "adorned with a braided crown" etc. are also of Chakrasamvara.

Because the empowerment words of the black crown are universal, if one cannot shave after receiving the crown empowerment, then is it impossible for a monastic to receive the five wisdom empowerments? Or is it similar to how one cannot separate the head from water after receiving the water empowerment, and one must not separate the hands from the vajra and bell after receiving the latter two empowerments? Therefore, having received the crown empowerment, one should know that the nature of feeling is Ratnasambhava, and thus not generate the three poisons of attachment, aversion, and ignorance towards feelings. One must also know to respect the Vajra Master and not separate from the crown. Just as it is not necessary to always wear external headdresses and streamers after that, giving a crown with a substitute for hair, the topknot, is also the same, it does not mean that one cannot shave. In general, it is very strange for practitioners to be manifestly attached to shaving or not shaving, etc., as vows regarding external aspects of the body. How could it be said of them, "Freed from learning and empowerment"? Therefore, it is crucial not to destroy the Vajrayana teachings by imitating the empowerments of the Tirthika Ishvaras. Similarly, using the reason that one's own guru or the guru's guru, etc., is an accomplished practitioner or is said to be accomplished, and then dressing up like Brahmins do in terms of caste, saying, "This is the religion of our lineage," and adorning oneself like a Heruka. Moreover, buying those ornaments made from the bones of yaks and white conch shells, etc., with great effort, wearing them during the day and taking them off at night, treating them like people treat ornaments of turquoise and coral, cleaning and diligently guarding them, spending time in this way, and being devoted to commercial profits and gatherings in various places, there are many who claim to be practitioners, so now it is understood that it is a time when practitioners are also confused. In short, in India, there have been countless individuals like Dombi Heruka, Saraha, Sindhapa, Kumaraputra, and Lingbupa, who attained supreme accomplishment through the adornment and conduct of Heruka. To abide in this conduct is to enter the mandala of the body of the generation and completion stages. The yoga of individual dissolution and meditation is perfected, that is, the body is purified, the channels are cleansed, and the Vajra body of the path-time is manifested.
