They believe in bondage and liberation, and the Jainas or naked ascetics believe that all animate and inanimate things have life, and acknowledge nine categories of life, and the followers of the royal school who consider the treatise *Vikramavati*, which asserts that sentient beings are the root cause, as a standard. And those who assert that time is the root cause view that this world is contracted and expanded by time, saying, "Time cooks all things, and time gathers beings." And some who assert the person (pudgala) say that the person is filled with karma, and they create the person by leaking into samsara. Or, the Sravakas, such as the Vatsiputriyas, acknowledge a self that is inexpressible as either the same or different. Bhava Bhadra and others quote "where is the aspect of consciousness" to indicate the view of the Mind-Only school. Therefore, the detailed analysis of these respective views, as well as those unreal appearances, conceptualizations, and in short, the nature of all things established by scripture and famous in the world, are not established as truly existent when analyzed, but appear in various ways when deluded, so they cannot be established as either true or false, no matter how they are named. For example, just as the form conjured by a magician, one should understand that the coemergent luminosity actually exists in the manner of a magical form. The fourth part has three aspects: summarizing and showing the four joys and causing the retinue to doubt, cutting off the coemergent superimpositions, and the experience of the path of meditation. The first aspect is: initially, it is merely joy; the second is supreme joy; the third is freedom from joy; the fourth is said to be coemergent. Vajragarbha and all others, having heard these words from the wise ones, were greatly amazed and fainted and fell to the ground. The first joy is the form of the goer; likewise, supreme joy is the goer; freedom from joy is also the goer; the third has no coemergence. Thus it is said. When a yogi experiences the stages of joy, initially, in the various moments that arise, it is merely joy, without any other special qualities, because the pleasure is small and attached, so there is desire for touch and so on. In the second, in the moment of maturation

Arising is supreme joy, because happiness is vast, and especially because one desires happiness. Third, what arises in the moment of complete maturation is the joy of separation from joy, because one is satisfied with happiness and is separated from the attachment of wanting to attain happiness again. Fourth, what arises in the moment of separation from characteristics is only called non-conceptual coemergent joy, because it is separated from conceptualization and is the same taste of bliss and emptiness. Regarding one verse of the Vajra Essence, etc., the Gö translation translates it as: "All the Tathagatas, as well as the wise ones such as Vajra Essence, have heard and ascertained this matter." The Black Difficult Commentary and other Indian commentaries also explain it in the same way. Gö Lotsawa Zhönnu's feet said: "As the word 'Tathagata' indicates, like an assembly, it also shows that there is a retinue of the Tathagata here." Moreover, Rangjung Dorje also holds this view. Therefore, at that time, all the Tathagatas assembled in the retinue, and the wise Bodhisattvas such as Vajra Essence, were extremely amazed at that unique speech, and with doubts and concerns, they fainted and fell to the ground without conceptualization. This is provisional meaning. At that time, because coemergence manifested, the duality of grasper and grasped did not waver, and they entered the state of great wisdom, which is fainting and falling, which is definitive meaning. What is the reason for showing fainting, etc., in the provisional meaning? First, 'Joy is the form of the aggregate of formation' refers to being associated with changing conceptualization. Similarly, supreme joy is also contaminated because it focuses on happiness, and the joy of separation from joy is also the aggregate of formation because it is accompanied by conceptualization. Therefore, the statement that these three do not have coemergence, and the previous statement that all dharmas are pervaded by coemergence, became a point of doubt. The definitive meaning of these is that they are the stages of conceptualization of the element of Bodhicitta, the conceptualizations of the aggregates and sense bases are the Tathagata and great compassion, etc., extreme amazement is joy, which is desire, fainting is supreme joy, which is ignorance, and falling is separation from joy, which is hatred. These three are coemergent with afflictions.
