Pages 301 to 400. Pages 301 to 400. How to meditate? Whatever belongs to the realm of stable and moving objects, that is, all of the container and its contents, even small grasses, small trees, young branches, and vines that grow by clinging to other trees, in whatever form, are none other than the nature of my own co-emergent mind, that is, the very essence of the ultimate reality, self-aware emptiness, one must definitely meditate on this. Among those, there is nothing more excellent than this, there is nothing else that is more outstanding, as it was said before, this is a praise of the stages of meditation, and it shows the meditation on self-awareness. The third is: Self-awareness is great bliss. From self-awareness, enlightenment arises. For the sake of self-awareness, there is meditation. From the transformation of self-knowing. From suppression, action arises. One's self seizes and one's self acts. Self-awareness is king, self is the chief. It is said that if all of us are to meditate on the Great Seal, what will happen? The teacher Shantipa said that he considered the seven suchness to explain the supreme meaning of self-awareness: The great bliss of wisdom that each individual knows for themselves, which has been present in all phenomena from the beginning, when the practitioner of the path realizes self-awareness, it will transform into the attainment of unsurpassable enlightenment, this is the suchness of the fruit; until realization arises, for the sake of realizing self-awareness, the view and meditation are connected in meditation, this is the suchness of the cause, that is, the meaning of generating attainment. The word "ni" indicates certainty. Such a transformation of the wisdom that one knows for oneself, that is, the nature that accomplishes the supreme of action, this is the suchness of action; in "Drokyong" it is suppression, and in some places it is translated as abandonment, that is, suppressing conceptual thoughts, or abandoning the two obscurations of harm, from this arises the action of realization, this is the suchness of the path; these abandonments and realizations, the Bodhisattva himself seizes and destroys faults, gathers merits and controls them himself, there is no other actor besides this, this is the suchness of the actor; self-awareness, which has become the lord of the world, is the king, this is the suchness of the lord; the benefit of oneself and others both being perfected, therefore oneself is the master, that is, the suchness of the all-pervading lord.

Thus it is said, and the glorious Naropa, combining the Heart Explanation with this, made an explanation of the definitive meaning. Here, there are many differences in the translation and explanation of the texts, concerning the meaning of suppression, etc. If all phenomena are shown to be wisdom, then from where does the karma of samsara arise? Although the essence of self-awareness abides in emptiness, its transformation arises from ignorance, and through the succession of conceptual thoughts being suppressed, defiled karma is accumulated. Moreover, by generating virtuous karma, one eliminates one's own faults; by generating non-virtuous karma, one creates the suffering of samsara for oneself. Therefore, all happiness and suffering depend on self-awareness, so self-awareness itself is like the king or master of all samsara and nirvana, as many Indians and Tibetans have said. The fourth is: "Desire, hatred, jealousy, as well as ignorance and pride, all of them, in that place, abiding in joy, even sixteen parts cannot harm." It is said that when not realized, under the influence of grasping and the grasped, desire, hatred, jealousy, as well as ignorance and pride, these five afflictions, although their power is very great, nevertheless, the wisdom born together with all of them, abides in that great peace, just as wood is burned and transformed into fire. If so, when these afflictions abide and transform, do they exist in a hidden way? No, they transform into the nature of supreme, unchanging, joyful great wisdom, and the afflictions cannot harm even one-sixteenth of the qualities of wisdom. In the moment of realizing this, suchness will manifest. Fourth, the samaya-mudra yoga has five aspects: perfection of essence, perfection of realization, perfection of abandonment, surpassing through other means, and admonishment to practice constantly. The first is: "The wisdom born from the Dharmadhatu, equal to space, co-emergent with means, from the nature of means and wisdom, all three realms are born from it, the form of semen is the Bhagavan, its bliss is called Desire Goddess." Thus it is said, and there are four aspects to this. The meaning of the words is: The place where all noble dharmas arise, the Dharmadhatu, is shown here by the name "Dharmadhatu-born," and the wisdom born from it, pervading all moving and unmoving things, is equal to space, co-emergent, and also possesses and is endowed with the means of practice.
